My GI ordered iron infusions for me last time I saw him after finding my feritin level to be 9. I was a little anemic at 11.4. Two weeks later I was back up to 12.2. I have had low MCH for a while, but last weeks blood work showed that in the normal range as well. How can my iron be that low with these levels? A little confused about why I would need the infusion.

Iron deficiency and anemia are two totally different things. You can have iron deficiency without anemia. Still means you need iron.

My numbers are also low so I have my first iron infusion this coming Thursday.

I had never heard of such a thing before. Hoping this will help some with the fatigue!
