Ulcerative colitis (UC). UC is a commonly occurring inflammatory disease and the usefulness of curcumin in the experimental models of UC has been well demonstrated. Its efficacy was investigated in a pilot study where it was evident that use of standardized curcumin preparation as an enema caused greater improvements in disease activity in distal UC patients (Singla et al., 2014).
In another trial, curcumin improved both the clinical activity index and endoscopic index and in turn suppressed the morbidity linked with UC. Therefore, curcumin could be an important, safe and effective alternative treatment for maintaining remission in quiescent UC patients (Hanai et al., 2006; Lang et al., 2015). - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5429333/
