Cramping all day, spontaneous diarrhea

Hi everyone, I’ve not been on in a while. I was doing OK. I was on a pred taper since last november which finished about 2 months or so ago while I was starting Imuran. I’ve been on that for almost 5 months.

For the last 4 weeks I have been getting a lot of gas. Some I can let out and other that stays trapped and is uncomfortable. Every now and then I have diarreah then maybe 1 or 2 days without going, then have formed BM, then maybe solid but loose the next day etc. Very random.

Whenever I wake up its like 2 minutes later my body realizes I’m awake and I start getting the gas pains that I used to be able to let out and my day would be OK. However lately I feel like a lot stays in, I get cramps and this stays with me all day long. Feels like a mix between trapped gas, cramps, a hollow feeling and the feeling I need to get something out but I cant.

A few days ago I had cramps and diarreah then the next 2 days semi formed, some floaters.. then today I woke up at 7am with a lot of cramp pains and had bad diarreah, the cramping was very painful, after the BM, the cramps weren't so bad but Ive had constant lingering cramps/trapped gas all day long for around 10 days and I really don't know what to do.

If I go, whether its diarreah or regular its between 1 and 3 times. Today I’ve only been that once this morning.

No urgency, blood or mucus.

I had the flu about a month ago. Had a 3 day antibiotic that got rid of a chest infection but days and weeks after I was having normal-ish BM’s. This is diarreah and cramps is almost a month after. Still don't have a whole lot of energy since then.


Could it be the UC flaring, IBS related or more towards stomach flu / c diff?

It feels like an upset stomach when you eat something bad that isn't going away.

Hi iPoop, I had a test for calprotectin last friday, waiting for results. Seeing doc on wednesday. I went all day yesterday without a BM then today had very loose/floating BM and I currently feel awful, feels like I still need to get something horrid out from inside me. A constant upset stomach feeling.

I l’ve tried antispasmodic but they dont really help..

Let us know what the results are. Not sure it's a flare, doesn't sound much like a classic one *shrug* . Try and stay positive, maybe it's just a flu/gut bug kinda thing that'll clear up on its own.

Imuran can cause an elevation in MCV. I had that the whole time i was taking it (my dr didnt seem worried) and it went back to normal after I stopped taking it.

The calpro is a little bit elevated but not really indicative of a major flare.

Hi i stopped taking it because i started xeljanz and they can't be taken together (too much immunosuppression). Added to that it never really worked very well for me.

My mcv level was elevated for about 18 months - just above the normal range. Like i said my doctor wasn't concerned, he just said, that's from the imuran.

I was considered to be more or less in remission when my calprotectin was 140 so 100 is really quite good - I used to have values in the range 1000-2000 when I was flaring.
