I just finished a 14 day course of Vanco for a c. diff infection yesterday. It's my first time having this infection. Today was my first day off antibiotics and I felt ok up until this evening. I started having multiple bowel movements of just blood and fluid but I’m also currently in the middle of an untreated UC flare. My test results for the c diff won’t come back until Wednesday at the earliest. Not sure what to think at this point....

I've never had c.difficile...I don't know how long it should take for recovery.
I'm wondering if you're still on the mesalamine?

You could start using a fibre supplement that will help bulk the stool a bit and help sweep out the c.diff. you could try the s. Boulardii probiotic as suggested previously.

Sorry to hear that. It's almost impossible to know if it's your UC flare or the C Diff. until you get the result back.

Rapid stool tests for C. Diff. are usually available in 8 to 12 hours. Maybe a local hospital emergency room can help you. You should be dealing with a gastroenterologist.
The small book, "C. Diff in 30 Minutes", by J. Thomas Lamont, is quite good and available on Amazon. Good luck.

I also began Florastor after having C.Diff. I've been just fine since. It did take two rounds of Vanco to get rid of mine. As Garyi stated....the test results could be determined much faster!! Best of luck to you. That's some rough stuff to deal with.

My two recent tests:
1) C Difficile Glutamate Dehydrogenase NEGATIVE
2) Clostridium Diff Toxin A/B NEGATIVE
Clostridium difficile NOT DETECTED Hooray!
