Pentasa versus Asacol, which one?

What is best to take pentasa suppository or asacol enema? the disease is in the rectum and sigmoid colon, just wondering if pentasa suppository reach the sigmoid colon.

No it doesnt.
The asacol foam enema is only 1g dosage. If you could get the Pentasa retention enema of 4g dosage, that would be best.

I tend to use a mesalazine enema and suppository at different times of day when I'm flaring, and sometimes I've plugged an enema with a suppository but that doesn't always work - so there's the risk of ejecting both when I'm struggling to retain rectal meds!

Hi, I live in Finland, what is available here is asacol enema 1g and Pentasa suppository1g, budesonide enema 2 G. I was thinking try to take budesonide 2G 2x daily for 6 or 8 weeks, after that budesonide once a day with asacol enema in the morning. It has been very difficult to control this flare up. Please anyone here have taken budesonide 2x daily, how was the outcome? Feeling better, flare came down, thanks

Definitely worth a try. I don't know off-hand if anyone has used budesonide 2x daily...but put out a separate question for that specifically.
