Atypical pANCA now negative?

So in the past, when doctors would do the “IBD Extended Panel” blood test on me, I would show an Atypical pANCA which is confirmation of Ulcerative Colitis.

It’s now negative for me…

Anyone have any ideas why that could be?

I don’t have a regular GI doctor, and haven’t seen one in a while.

A Lyme doctor happened to do the IBD panel this time. I was surprised to see it was all negative for IBD.

I told the Lyme doctor I think Lyme is affecting my gut but he thinks it’s not Lyme and that it’s IBD. However I was surprised when this test came back negative for the first time since I was “diagnosed” with “UC.”

Personally I’ve been self treating for a few years now—not on any IBD meds. Calprotectin has been going down but still not having normal BMs and still having lots of bloating (also have SIBO methane dominant).

However, I’ve done research into Lyme and IBD and there can be an overlap in symptoms but most doctors aren’t aware. Lyme can cause Bells Palsy of the Gut (nerve problems in the gut) which can cause SIBO and probably affect other important organs for digestion like the gallbladder and small intestine and whatnot. So, I’m not entirely convinced that when people say “you have UC and that’s all there is to it.”

I had no idea there was a blood test for IBD. I always heard there wasn't a blood test for that. That's why I love this forum -- always learning something new

Keep in mind that this blood test isn't perfectly accurate for diagnosing IBD. It always needs to be considered along with other evidence - symptoms, scope results, stool tests, biopsies, chronicity, etc.
