Has anyone had real good results with Remicade? I have been on Entyvio and it has been working great, but in a bad flare now, and Dr. talking about changing to Remicade. This all really scares me....sometimes I think they should just try Lialda again or another mesalamine. I am unsuree about all the biologics. Anyone else feel like this?

You should edit the post's subject so people will click on it.

Your GI should be able to tell you the statistics on it working for you. They use different mechanisms to target the inflammation.

I have never used Entyvio so I can't comment on it but I used Remicade for 4+years and it worked well for me.

Remicade has been around longer so has more data on remissions rates and lengths. Quite a few on here have been successfully in remission on remicade for many years. Should entyvio fail for me it would probably be my next drug of choice.

It is more whole-body immune suppressing than entyvio. Not that anyone here has reported getting more sick more often here — but there are studies showing that those on remicade haven’t responded as well to covid vaccines.

If mesalamines did not work previously for you I wouldn’t think it would now.

When Entyvio stopped working for me, first I switched to Humira which didn't work very well and then switched to Remicade. Remicade gave me my life back (was in bad shape when I started it). It took me a while to get completely symptom free (see my sig), but I am feeling good now and hoping for a long run on Remi. With Remicade there is more flexibility with dosage and frequency to get you where you need to be. There are people here that have been on it for 10 or more years.

Unlikely that mesalamine alone will work now when it didn't before. Remicade is the oldest of the biologics and has a long track record. Good luck!

Thank you everyone ...your feedback really helped me. I guess if it wasn't for this covid issue I wouldn't be so scared. I don't know if I'd feel better just having more protection from covid, than having moreprotection for my colon. Does that sound crazy...it does to me sometimes.My Dr has me confused too because at first he said he wouldn't make any changes until after he did a colonoscopy which is scheduled for the end of this month,but I even wonder if he will have to wait on that because I'm so inflammed .

So covid really hasn't affected us(IBD on immunosuppressants) more than the average population. I wouldn't worry too much about it especially if you are vaccinated. Vaccinated people do much better than the unvaccinated population. There will soon be pills specifically designed to treat covid if you need it.

Our immune systems are not that compromised by the medications that we take. Your GI should be able to explain all of this and the statistics around it.

Thanks keith...that makes me feel better. Im going thru a difficult time right now with trying to get the prednisone to actually work!. They atarted me on 30mg once a day , and it wasnt enough to get me thru the night, so then split it with 2 in am and 1 in evening. that helped but felt worse during the day. Then, now 40 mg just started today (all at once.)
Hope this works. I felt better yesterday, just cant get the diarreah to stop. Never had this problem before but always took the 40 all together. I actually started on it 8 days ago so far. Thanks you for answering my post.

Have you tried rectal meds? If you are dealing with urgency then it is usually an inflammed rectum and rectal meds can really help easy some of the urgency at night.
