Hey there,
I'm mid-flare and doctor has me on Uceris rectal foam for relief. I'm a pro at Rowasa so I thought this would be similar but it's just not. You insert a nozzle, hold down a little pump for two seconds, then release and it's supposed to shoot steroid foam into your rectum and voila. But that's never the case. It always shoots right out of my butt, even if the nozzle is far into my rectum. I end up using two or three doses at once because I can't seem to figure it out. It's so poorly designed. And you have to do it in a standing position in order for the foam to be released (vs. Rowasa which I do lying down).
Anyone have any tips or tricks here? I've tried suppositories and they end up popping right back out of my butt as well. I cannot hold them in. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
D

Can you get hydrocortisone enemas instead? You use them the same way as Rowasa.
I've never used the foam so no ideas

Have you tried it lying down? I just looked at the Uceris website and the full prescribing info says you can apply it sitting, standing or lying down

I’ve never had this issue. I always use it standing up usually with one foot on the toilet or a stool. Insert the applicator all the way in — helps to use a little dab of Vaseline or lube on the end. Hold button for 2 seconds. And the leave the applicator in for another 20-30 seconds. If it’s shooting back out I would suspect you haven’t inserted the applicator in far enough or are pulling it out too soon. Also it helps to hold the canister in your palm for a minute to warm it up before use.
