Old Hat, I found the article on USA Today's website, they have an area for searching articles. I typed in UHC & colonoscopies & it popped right up, I think it was dated May 23.
My understanding as of June 1, all scopes will require authorization before being done. It's going to take longer for patients to have testing, plus more work for the drs staff obtaining authorization. UHC stated they are trying to cut down on expenses because of people going to ER & getting a scopes done that they feel are necessary at the time.
We all know when it comes to insurance it's about saving money. They also talked about how Advantage Plans makes it difficult for patients to have any kind of testing done because of jumping through hoops for authorization.
I am not going to get too excited for myself yet, this is geared for people with UHC as their private insurance. As long as Medicare approves my testing or treatment, UHC has paid their part.
I hope these dr groups can help. Tried to make a link & it wouldn't work.
