Also, its interesting you mention calcium ascorbate. Every calcium supplement I have tried causes me terrible problems which is bad as the pred is ruining my bones. I will try the one you take..
Also, does stool bulkers really help? I always thought they made you go more often? How much do you take? I have taken ispaghula husk in the past and it increased my BMs....
Apparently calcium ascorbate is suppose to be easy on the gut, that's why I chose this one, I get if from puritans pride online.
And yes, stool bulkers really do help, with either C or D, my GI told me to take it and I'm so glad I listened...it decreased my daily BM's because instead of many trips to the can with small deposits, it bulks up my stools so I go less times and have larger deposits...always start with a small amount (I take one tab) and drink with plenty of water, increase only if necessary and only once your system has adjusted to the initial amount you started with...it may cause bloating and gas but this is normal for the adjustment period (it took 3 months for my system to adjust) it was honestly well worth it. I use Prodeim stool bulker (not to be confused with prodiem laxative which is a small round brown pill), the stool bulker is similar to metamucil. My GI said to take it daily for the rest of my life, it's been 4ish yrs now and I plan to stick with it. I can even tolerate eating fibreous foods now without getting all gassy and bloated.
