Hi Joan, I am also a mom of a 21 year old son who was dx with crohn's in July. He is taking Pentasa and the GI wanted to put him on 6mp. We decided to try the natural way 1st. I knew about
Aloe Vera gel being helpfull in ulcers and since he has ulcers on the colon, well Aloe is the first thing that came to mind. I also started to use Lilly of the Desert Aloe Vera gel, because it was certified. My son takes 2onces in a glass of apple juice every night and it seems to help him quite a lot. As a matter of fact, when he eats something that doesn't seem to agree with him (usually at supper time) he takes the aloe at night and as soon as he takes it, within 5 minutes, the symptoms of discomfort are gone. I am very please with this. However, you have done a lot of research about
this and I was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of the thickening agent story. I am a bit concerned about
this, however, I too feel that a company that goes way out of their ways to make sure they give a product that is certified would not put anything harmfull in it, but we never know. If you have done further investigation on this I would like to hear from you. You could also contact me by email at
[email protected] (please note that I am mainly on the crohn's forum). Thank you and have a great day!
