Hi,

I've UC too, but now I'm just like a normal person. Don't take any medication and can eat almost anything in the world.

How often and how much do you eat Evan? Daily? Do you drink it every 6 hours? Whats the method?

I read about Evan's recipe through his postings on another website and I gave it a try.

Did absolutely nothing for my UC.

I"m not a docter, but from your footnote, I can see that you take a lot of things.

While when I was flared I only take my recipe and eat rice, egg, spinach & chicken. No other medication, no oil, no diary product, no yoghurt, and any other food that I think will hurt my stomach. As long as I don't feel hungry that will be enough for me.

Diary product or Yoghurt, for example. When I was flare, a minute after I take them I get blood dhearea.

But, what ever works for you that's great.

Hi Amal,

I'm very sorry that my recipe is not good for you.
But, the water should be not hot (or warm) and not cold.

If the water is warm, it will make the tapioca into pudding.

well anyway if you think it's not good for you, than maybe it is better to not take it again.

I tried it this morning at 7:00am. 3 spoon of Cassava Flour in a cup of warm water. I had to add more water to make it more liquid so I can drink it, at 9:00am had lots of blood more than usual.

I doubt you would react to tapioca flour that fast...

I tried this for months (after reading the story posted above at Experience Project).

No luck. Maybe it helps a little with the acidity in your stomach, maybe it bulks the stool... it certainly didn't seem to hurt.

I tried for 3 days, it didn't work. I feel very bloated, mucous and bloody stool as before.

I read this link too. The article only talked about 2 or 3 days experience. Most people didn't get much improvement upon this idea.

Hi Amal,

I hope you are not giving up to your UC.
If the tapioca recipe is not working for you, something else maybe will work.
As for my self, at first I also didn't believe this tapioca recipe.
But I was desperate, so I just drink it.

One more thing, never let your stomach empty (hungry)
Anytime you feel hungry, you have to eat any food that is safe you.

When my UC was flared, I can eat 5 to 6 times a day.
Cause I always feel hungry.
But, when the time you feel not hungry you have to stop eat.
Don't eat to much also, you don't have to feel full. Not hungry will be enough.

I know this sounds strange, but most of Indonesian people who try recipe get better.
And the recipe is a very famous recipe in Indonesia.
So it's the perfect recipe for Indonesia people.

It could be eating habbit, or the brown sugar, or something else, who knows.

The point is not eating frequently, but never let your stomach empty.
So when ever you feel hungry, than you have to eat.
If you not feel hungry than don't eat.

I tried this after I read it on here. Bought the tapioca from a local latin supermarket. (Columbian)

I've been taking it for 2 days so far and all of my symptoms are still there 100%. I've noticed nothing yet.

I'll keep trying since I have nothing to lose, but I thought I should let people know.

The reason why tapioca works for some is because of the high conversion rate to butyrate in the colon since tapioca is a resistant starch. UC patients can also get this resistant starch in beans, cold rice, green bananas, corn maltodextrins and psyllium husk. The down side to tapioca is it's high in oxalic acid which binds to calcium and will give you kidney stones if you take too much of it all time. That's why you should also rotate the aforementioned other types of resistant starch into the diet.
