How hard are these things to do (honestly)?

Not hard at all. Pretty easy, just use on finger to push it up. I always use them before bed.

Easier, in my opinion, then the enemas and less uncomfortable. It takes a whole 2 seconds at night. The only draw back is that it can be a little messy when you get up because some might leak out.

thanks for the feedback. To make a long post short, a guy I work with has the same problem I (we) do. He got prescribed one and it had his bleeding stopped within days. Sounds to me like this is the way to go if the doc recommends it. I feel like I'm doing quite well with the exception of the small amount of bleeding I'm doing. Can't wait for my appointment on Thursday!

Honestly, they are really easy to use... it's just the mental energy, I find, that is the hard part. You know, it's late at night, I'm about
to go to sleep and I'm thinking, "ugh". But it really does take all of 5 seconds and is super easy. I've never had the leakage issue with the medicine.
And I agree with Red -- they are definitely less uncomfortable than the liquid enemas.

The suppositories, in my opinion, are more for maintenance than treatment.
I would urge (little pun) you to request the retention enemas rather than the suppositories. Same them for tapering and maintenance.
If you are averse to the enemas (which give you more med dosaging to cover a larger area), and choose the suppositories to start...you can use them up to 3 times a day.
I personally don't like them but they're easy to use. If you have ANY gas...they'll leak especially if you push. They have a place, but not for treatment.
They're definitely better than not using any rectal meds at all...
Discuss the options with your doc..let us know what you decide.
