OT - Halloween plans tonight?

I know some of you don't celebrate or believe in Halloween but for the ones that do, what are your plans for this evening?  Do you have kids that go out trick-or-treating?  What are they dressing up as?  Do you dress up? How is the weather where you are? I hope it's nice for all the kids.

Normally, my son (who's 16) will dress up in dark clothing/cloak/mask type thing, hide in the leaves and pop out at the kids as they come to the door and my hubby dresses up as a rabid bat in stilts hangs out around the house - now he's a scary sight! Think 8 foot tall crazy bat type thingy! Sometimes I have to tell him to tame it down or I'm never going to get rid of the candy because all the kids go running without their treats.  tongue   Oh! And last year, he was even on one of our local news stations - for a whole 3 seconds but at least he had his 3 seconds of fame.  My daughter this year is dressing up as a graveyard fairy and going out with her friends.  Mom and Dad are not allowed to go with her this year  sad   I guess she doesn't want us cramping her style!

that sounds awesome Sherri!! no kids but we get plenty in our neighborhood, we are in a 'drop off' neighborhood, meaning, there are no main roads and there are about 10 streets all parallell everyone has about .25 of an acre, which is perfect for trick or treating so people that live in areas where there is not 'good' trick or treating come to our neighborhood. Last year we had 20 bags of candy and it was gone about halfway through.......this year we got two ginormus bags about 300 pieces of candy and hope it lasts throughout the night. (last year we had to end up giving out our personal stash!)

we just carved pumpkins and put some candles in them for decorating.

We are in the same boat as Beth. No kids yet (pregnant with our first), but we have A TON of trick-or-treaters that come through our development. I just love seeing all of them in their costumes... too cute!

Last week, my office did a trick-or-treat party where everyone could bring their kids or grandkids through to trick-or-treat from office to office. It ended with a Halloween party. That was a lot of fun, too!

I live out in the country so I never get trick or treaters anymore and my kids are grown so just another day I do miss the kids all dressed up. I might go up town just to see the costumes.

We never get trick or treaters in our area (condos, lots of elderly) but i am obsessed with pumpkins!!! I have carved three so far and saved one for today! Later I am running around to the nieces, nephews, and cousins to take pictures of the cuteness... Quinn,7, is a robot, nora,1, is a fairy, ben, 5 is a dragon, charlotte,7mo, is a spider...I can't wait to see! Oh and of course i have to go get candy just in case we get our first trick or treater in 5 years. But we all know where the candy will end up...

This afternoon I am going to the grandchildren's school to help out with the little "critters" then to take my two and their mother to the newsroom of our local paper to trick or treat there. My SIL works there and this has been a part of our Halloween tradition since my granddaughters have been able to trick or treat. My daughter is a dragon (she found that huge heavy costume at a garage sale), the 9 y/o is Princess Leah,from Star Wars, with buns over her ears and the 6 y/o is the Energiser Bunny with a drum and battery. I'm considereing wearing a stuffed Duckie costume but I'm not sure I can get into the car with it.

I will be taking Haley to see her biological father and his parents before going to a "Trunk or Treat" party at my dad's church. Haley is 6 and will be dressed as a Princess. Her outfit is so cute. She wore the outfit Monday to her homeschool skating party and won one of the prizes for the best costume! Her costume is royal blue with huge flowing sleeves, gold all across the front too. She also has a blue head band with jewels to go with it. With her make-up and hair curled, she looks like an angel to me!!

We don't have any trick-or-treaters on our street so I no longer get candy to pass out. There are a few houses on the other street in our neighborhood to do give out candy. My daughter and I will take her to a few houses in our neighborhood of people that we know. The big event will be the party tonight that keeps the kids off the streets.

I always loved Halloween growing up. Our neighborhood friends always had a great time. It's really ashamed that things have changed so much. It was a night of fun for us. Now you have to be so very careful. We always go through the candy when we get home for inspection.

I was sharing with Haley this morning how, when I worked, that Halloween was a huge event at our office. Everyone including the boss dressed up and had such fun the entire day. My boss even played a tape all day long of the Halloween sounds for the patients to hear.

Melody, how nice for you to have a new house!! That's really exciting!!! Congratulations!

We are going to try to go to a nearby church for their trunk-or -treat and then maybe to a few houses. According to how I feel we may go to a church for a party they are having for the kids. I feel bad about not getting mine an outfit early especially since this is Savannah's first Halloween (Emily is almost 3 and Darrian is 12 years old) but we have the make-up kits to dress them as little kittens and puppy dogs. I wanted so much more this Halloween as far as doing things...but trying to take this one day at a time and hoping to regain my energy soon!

awww thanks haley. I'm just excited.. I get to be the one giving out candy this time and not the one goin trick or treating hahahaha. I feel alll grown up :P

The town were i live has a massive party with a firework show lasting one hour. i'LL GET THE PICS ON  THIS THREAD TONIGHT TO SHOW YOU THE KIDS ALL DRESSED UP.

So cool Marty! I didn't know they had trick-or-treating in Ireland - do you pass out candy like in the states?.........now I'm gonna hold you to those pics :)

Linda - does the 9 year old even know who Princess Leah is?? lol If I asked my kids who that is I'm sure they would have noooo idea!

My 11 mo old is going to be a pink poodle, and my 2 year old is going to be a zebra.  That is, if I can convince her to wear her costume.  She picked it out herself and talked about it for weeks, but when we went to two Halloween parties over the weekend she flat out refused to wear it.  haha.. We are lucky enough to live in a great neighborhood for trick or treating.  Last year it was so warm that all the neighbors sat outside on their front steps (townhouses so they're nice and close together as well).  My daughter is carrying around her pumpkin bucket waiting for Daddy to get home and take her out :)

Over the years, I love making the Halloween costumes for my kids. My 11 year old son decided he wanted to be a Beatle from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. So I made him the costume. We bought a woman's pantsuit at the thrift store and I added fringe, roping, and some embellishments. He added the John Lennon type glasses. He wore it all day at school and out getting candy this afternoon and evening. He loved it.

Bratcat has a Halloween party to go to this Saturday. She plans on wearing a tiara and a pageant sash that says "Miss Diagnosed". We're trying to figure out a way to use toilet paper as the sash without it ripping.

WOOHOO!!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!! The best day of the year.
My buddy and I were bored 9 years ago on halloween so we just started putting some things together in his shop that we thought would be scary for our friends kids. Well 9 years later (last night) we had 465 kids come through our annual Haunted House that we do in my 2 car garage. We have aquired over $5000 worth of costumes, props and all the good stuff ya need for a good haunt. Last night was probably one of the best ones we have had so far. We ask all the kids that come through to bring a non parishable food item for the local food bank. (we got lots of food) The local paper showed up and took pictures. It was a blast. We funneled 465 kids through in 3 hours....talk about organized caos.
Hope everyone had a fun and safe night.

I cant believe I didnt eat one piece of candy :(

Sounds like everyone had a fun Halloween! I didn't have many kids, but we did a potluck here at work since we had two "Halloween Birthday Babies" and that was fun. Marty; your pics are adorable. I activated your link for you -- that was my "post edit." :-) So, glad everyone had a great time.

We had a great Halloween! Hubby and I went to my son's preschool party (it was a hoot). Last night trick or treating....little one was a spider. He was so stinking cute and wore his costume the entire time. Sent all the candy to work w/ my husband today! My son's only 2....the last thing we need is to get him hopped up on sugar!

Red, Yup, Chloe knows who Princes Leah is. She saw the movies last year and has waited the whole year to dress up like Leah. She even had a lightsabre. The kids were so cute ot the paper's offices. There were treats at everyones desks. The kids thought it was so cool.
