does a flare always mean blood?

when everyone on this board uses the term "flare" does it mean blood, mucous, d etc.? Could a flare also just be no blood, formed stool, but mucous is present?

As for me, what you just decribed is usally the start of a flre for me. Then comes the blood and D.

I've been flaring for 1.5 years, and have only had a couple days with minor blood/mucous during the past year. So a flare doesn't necessarily mean blood/mucous. If your colon is inflammed, then you're flaring.

Not for me. I've had mild to moderate flares with no blood at all. In fact, I haven't really bled since the first year or two after I was diagnosed.

My flare signs are typically urgency, mucous and blood. Mucous being the first sign things are headed south for me.

Flares can consist of many symptoms or few symptoms, as long as your bowel habits are not "normal" like before getting IBD then there is some degree of a flare going on.

I'm flaring but I don't usually see blood.
