Hi Everyone,

          I Just Wanted To Say That I'm So Glad To Find All Of You.  There Is Know One That I Know In My Area, That I can Talk To. That Understands about UC Really.(Except Doctors & Then I ? That Sometimes) HAHA ~~~ Well My ? Is I Just Got Put On 6-MP Today & For The Past 2 Monthes I Did Not Want To.  But I've Read Alot On Here And I Feel Better about Going On It.  But What Do I Expect? I'm On Pred. & I HATE It!!! I Get Really Bad Bone And Muscle Pain. Am I Going To Go Through This W/6MP That You Know Of ? Today I Feel Pretty Crappy But I Had A Sig. Done Also. The 6-MP Wouldn't Have Kicked In Yet Right. Please Help. sad

No the 6mp probably won't kick in for about 7 weeks or longer. Once the 6mp starts working then you should be able to taper down the pred. When you start on this, it's best to take it at night to minimize the side effects. You might find yourself getting nauseas, tired alot, headaches, mild hair loss but all these will subside once your body becomes accustomed to it. And by taking it at night, it might not even be noticable.

Good luck on this :) I've been on it for 1 year so far and I have to say that it was definately scary at first because of all the literature I've read but it has given me back my life and for that I'm happy to be on it.

Sorry about that ~~~ it's just my thing. Thank you for your help, i need all i can get. I felt sick yesterday after i took it so i will take it at night. Thank you again

Hi Happy Days,
I just wanted to chime in that I've been on the 6-MP for 3 mos. as of today and am feeling great!! No flaring, no UC symptoms at all since starting it - thank goodness!! Although I have experienced some of the symptoms mentioned by Sherry, it hasn't been bad at all and certainly better than UC flares for sure!!

Glipizide 5mg. x 2 daily,Caduet 5/10 mg. daily, Micardis 80 mg. daily, multivitamin + calcium daily and one baby aspirin

Frankly it was months before 6mp really kicked in.  But I think I am slow to react to meds

 in general.

Thank you guys, I've been on 6mp for a week today and so far i haven't seen that much blood but still alot of cramping w/d and some firm but it makes me feel really weird. I go to the hospital next week for blood work so i guess we'll see what happends. Bob i relate to you w/ the meds cause i've taken alot of them and i hope this works. Again thanks alot. :) Jolene
