vsl3 status

I went into a walgreens to pick up some vsl3 and i was told that i needed a presription. Having bought the stuff in the past, i was surprised. The pharmacist went to go look up information and all he was able to come up with was that they carried 2 lined of vsl3, one prescription, one OTC.

This is in the USA...

I have heard nothing about vsl becoming a precription, and their website still says it is a food product, not a drug.

If anyone knows anything, I am mainly concerned with what the difference is between the two, if they are even significantly different. If it is a precription, it would be a lot cheaper for me through my insurance if i could get a presription.

 

I think they just had it messed up in their computer, bu tapparently he had the preccription form in stock but could not dispense it without a prescription. The regular was out of stock so he couldnt even compare the two bottles. it is pretty hard to find locally but if you look online for a nearby distributor like walgreens or cvs you can get it. you ll just have to call a week ahead and have them order it because they never seem to stock more than one or two bottles
