tips for the airplane?

i am about to go on a five hour flight and i am a little nervous about the bathroom situation. this is the first time i have flown since my colitis really got funky. there are all of about three bathrooms on the plane and there is ALWAYS a line. any suggestions?

Before getting on the plane, I don't eat much for about 30 hours prior to boarding, especially if my flight is in the morning or early afternoon.  I'm not telling you to do that, since it's not healthy at all...just telling you what I do. It's the only way to guarantee that I'll get on the plane and not miss the flight.

tell the flight attendants at the gate BEFORE boarding that you have a medical issue that requires you to sit right next to the toilet.
they will let you pre-board. then you can sit right there and monitor the loo.
since it is a short flight (not short, but i just flew from australia to US so 5 hours seems short)... you are probably on a smaller plane.

best thing to do is just watch the toilet your sitting next to and if you feel anything... pop in line before it gets big.
or tell whoever comes up that you are next in line but you have to sit rather than stand in front of them.

Stay calm! Stressing about going as we all know is what makes you go. Just make sure to go before you board and if the plane isn't full, after the seats fill up switch to a back seat! :D
