Anyone have this problem with colazal?

I was just wondering if any one else has experienced these affects from colazal.  Ive been taking 3 colazal a day for just over two weeks now.  Heres the problem, im having the worse tummy grumbling and some nausea and diarrhea. Ive missed over a month of work now due to this flare.  I was having terrible abdominal pain and bleeding so i switched from asacol to colazal.  The diarrhea is very urgent and explosive, i dont dare leave the house.  I know i keep asking questions but im getting beyond desperate.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ambien 1pm

vicodin as needed

That's why we are here! I am sorry you are having such a tough time. I know I am a broken record but there is no way 3 Colazal a day is a flare dosage. Okay got that off my chest. Are you trying rectal meds? Have you tried any other maintainence meds? Have you considered 6mp or Imuran?

I have been on Colazal for over 2 years. I have never had any problems w/ it. That being said it wasn't enough to keep me in remission and I had to start Imuran. I do take a maintainence dose of Colazal while in remission. I am on 9/day b/c i had some pre-flare symptoms a couple of weeks back.

I have an appointment with him tomorrow. Hes not in today but his nurse is supposed to page him and call me back. I just wish i knew what the heck was going on inside of me. I have mesamalamine enemas and canasa supps from before but i was waiting to see what my gi wanted me to do. I think its wierd that this gurgling and diarrhea has been going on since i caught the stomache flu from my son about a week ago. Im so trying to hang in there but i feel like im going crazy! Thanks again!

I got the tummy bug from my son last time this year (oh lordy the pain of thinking back on it!). I hate you are having such a hard time. I am glad you are seeing your GI tomorrow. I would write down all your questions so when you see him you don't forget anything. Please let us know what he says.

I, too, don't think you are taking enough Colazal to get a flare under control. I think most people take 9 a day to get things under control and then try to move to a lower dose once they are out of the flare. Also, add Rowasa to your regimen.
