What else can heppen to me and how many meds can a person be on!???????

Hi, I am new here, I am frustrated with everything.  This year has been a nightmare healthwise!!!!  I take 660 mgs of Remicade (double dose from what I understand) every 6 weeks.  Now I suddenly have extreme joint pain and was told I have Fibromyalgia and Psoriac Arthritis.  AHHHHHHHHH!!  Plus I still have the same freaking ulcer since 3 years ago.  Now they want me on like 10 meds.  I am venting but also looking for support or some hope or something.... sad

I'm sorry to hear you are going through all of that. You'll find here that there a lot of members who are dealing with multiple issues. It seems when it rains it really pours! I think mostly it's our immune systems, they just don't seem happy with one ailment.

You've definitely come to the right place for hope and support though. The members here are really great and I for one can say they've gotten me through a lot of frustrating and depressing times. And don't ever be afraid to vent! That's what we're here for :)

I hope you get things under control soon and you start feeling better. When you're feeling your worst it seems like things will never be okay again but they will. It just takes time!

I hear you, my "breakfast of champions" is to get down 12-16 pills depending on what's bugging me. And now Venofer injections for five weeks because I became anemic. I get a lot of hope from seeing that some meds do work for some people here on these boards and I am just hoping my GI will finally figure out what's going to work for me. Right now the only thing that makes me functional is Prednisone. When I try to get off it I get extremely ill but I've been on it going on way too long. Why does the one thing that works have such bad long-term side-effects? Arrgh. Hang in there.

I'm taking 10 medications also. I take 16 pills in the morning, 5 at noon and 7 in the evening. Some for my autoimmune diseases, some for side effects of other drugs. The good news is that I'm able to live a pretty normal life right now.

We never know what tomorrow will bring, but then people without IBD don't either.

Yep I actually forgot how many I take I think its like 22 or 23 pills a day but all in all I am doing pretty good right now knock on wood. I know it not what we all hoped for to take a couple of handsful of pills everyday. But if it makes your life better its worth it, to me anyway. Hopefully it will work for you and you will feel better.

Since I was dx'd I have been on a minimum of 6 pills a day and the most was over 50 (included herbal remedies too) There are ups and downs, good days and bad. Some days it seems like the medication is too much. Those are the days I do lots of research on surgery. On really bad days i force myself to think that a) it could be worse, there are diseases that can't be treated at all ande b) other than being sick a lot I have a good life (lots of friends, family, dog, and i'm even working part time now which wasn't possible 6 months ago!) But there are good days too. In the ten years I have had this disease I can honestly say there have been more good days than bad. It doesn't seem like it since this flare has been sticking around for over a year...but it is getting better...and it's becuase of all those dang pills.

hang in there and ditto to everyone else's comments. I had a hard time this past weekend, I got a hemi and with a few extra bm's it was like pooping razor blades! I just was like ***, can't I catch a break here??? Plus have kidney issues that are really pissing me off (pun intended). There really is no fairness in this world and I suppose it can always be worse, that's how I deal with it, though every now and then I do need to give in and just have a good cry to let it all out and then pick up and move on and try to make the best of it.
