This is so wierd.  I bleed some with every BM but i have no other symptoms.  This has been going on for 3 weeks.  Ive been using colocort for over a week with no improvement.  So wierd!  I was hospitalized over the summer for a week with a really bad flare and I dont want to go back!  Theres no pain so Im sure its not a hemroid.  I think Im going to switch to rowassa and see if that helps...

Internal hemmorhoids often don't cause pain.

I would guess a hemmoroid too.  A rectal ulcer would hurt like crazy, mine sure does anyways.  You could get a sigmoidoscopy if you are worried.

This is typically how a flare begins for me. Solid stool, only 1-2 movements per day, no pain, no gas, nothing - just bright red blood on the surface of the stool. If your rectal medication doesn't work in a few more days, I would call the doc.

It can be inflammation. When I was first diagnosed the only symptom I had was small bleeding with evry BM and nothing else. It could be the Colitis get it checked out.

I hope by now all is better. I have had blood for the last 6 months (while prenant) trying to maintain it with my colazal and some steroid supp's. that did not help and then i switched dr's and he put me (on as well as my colazal), rowasa enemas, canasa supp's and 2 lialda for a 2 week plan to get this under control and in less than 6 days my blood is almost gone. i couldn't believe it this morning. i will be honest all of that is a lot to take but, the thought of ending up back in the hospital in a complete flare, 40 lbs thinner and out of work for months is a horrible thought as well, possibly loosing my colon. talk to you dr. about more meds. good luck!

Ive been using the rowassa and colocort (rotating) for about 4 or 5 weeks now...no improvement, but its not really getting worse...a little blood every day...so i broke down and called the Dr and they dont have an opening till Jan 14th.  So i talked to the nurse and told her whats going on, she is going to talk to the dr and see if he has a suggestion.  I told them i want to avoid prednisone. Hope we can figure out something to get the bleeding to stop....

Lori..how many asacol are you on?

If you have just a little bleeding...I say hang tough. I also think that after pred ..it's like starting over, but delayed..no proof, but just from observance.

Is your UC throughout? limited?

My UC is lower left.  I take 6-9 asacol a day.

Lori - how long ago did you get off the prednisone?
I had a similar experience about 3 weeks after getting off prednisone, and turns out I needed to go back on steroids. I agree that this could be UC coming back, though it could not be. I turned out to be steroid dependent and was switched to Imuran. that might help you.

also, it may be you're healing and getting better, but just not fully healed yet. either way, do see your doc as soon as you can to nip it in the bud.

i got off prednisone about 4- 6 weeks before i started bleeding again...Ive been bleeding again for about 6 weeks now...just a little blood with almost every BM.  Been using the colocort every night..
