Thats really interesting. Intestinal alkaline phosphatase might be that "peacemaker" that we are all missing. Somebody posted a link on here not to long ago about a defect in our gut. If I remember correctly, we have peacemaker cells that keep things in order. They say that intestinal alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme, but maybe that are produced by the peacemakers cells, which are defective?

Reading wiki about Lipopolysaccharide's, it says they produce pro-inflammatory cytokines, which leads to inflammation.

Maybe they are on to something here.

It looks like naringin, which comes from grapefuit, inhibits lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

I wiki'd Zebrafish and was surprised to find they are common aquarium fish. I think I may have even had some of them in an aquarium I had in college. Strange, maybe the little buggers end up solving the whole DD

Good find on the above article.

I invest in stocks and have been looking for a way to play this.  The company that comes up with this is "AM Pharma."  They are in another country and I haven't the foggiest clue how to invest in them.  Except that a London company, BBI Holdings, apparently has a subsidiary that owns 8% of AM Pharma.  Then I found out that an American company, Inverness , stock ticker IMA is seeking to buy BBI Holdings.  But IMA has been doing nothing but acquiring companies lately.  Ironically enough, after having taken the back door into this research, I find out Cramer likes IMA and I found a video of him referring to his stockpickr website that states George Soros has IMA in his portfolio.

This is not my field of expertise.  I would assume if this led to a novel treatment, whoever held the patent, whoever supplied the materials etc would profit.  Sometimes that is just hard to figure out. 

Sorry as this is slightly off-topic; I just couldn't resist sharing this information I spent hours researching with you guys.  I obviously see huge potential in any company that can more effectively alleviate the suffering that not just us, but folks with many autoimmune conditions go through. 

Let me know if anyone is interested in pursuing this investment research.

I think this study is really important. It shows that the immune system is "attacking" itself, but not for the reasons western medicine says. It is attacking itself because the immune system has been compromised by LPS. LPS uses the body's first line of defense, the mast cell to help them attach to our intestinal mucosa barrier. Once the barrier is disrupted, particles of food, bacteria, etc are all introduced to the body through holes in the gut mucosa. The immune system sees all these as foreign and induces inflammation.

Its a cheesy summary, but I thought I would try and paint a picture. This looks like a cycle to me, with the LPS initiating and perpetuating the situation. The reason it can perpetuate the situation is inflammation alters your bodies ability to produce IAP. I wonder if this might be one of the genetic problems, the ability to produce sufficient IAP.

I got the Swanson supplement of naringin yesterday. THe bottle says to take 1-2 capsules twice a day. I am going to take 2 three times a day and see if I get any results. Already I am feeling
better, but I am just getting over being sick, so that might be why.

Will keep everyone posted.

I Didn't know there was a supplement for that -
One point of caution? I don't know if it's the same as grapefruits, but I've heard grapefruit can interact with some medicines, I believe it increases the amount of medication (some medications at least) in the blood. If anyone knows the details, feel free to chime in
