Well, I saw my doctor on Tuesday and he decided not to let me try Remicade yet. He said he would like to try "staying on the current program", of Asacol and Azathioprine. It also seems as though I'm stuck on potassium supplements... Every time I stop taking them my potassium levels go way down. It's been messed up every since this last stint on prednisone and I fear it may have messed them up forever. I hope not :/
I guess I'm just kind of frustrated because this "current program" is what I've pretty much always been on and it works on and off but never for very long. I suppose the only benefit to not starting Remicade right now is that I do not know if I will stay in Iowa for much longer and if I were to quit my job somewhere in the future I'd be without insurance for at least three months and I wouldn't want to stop and start again with the risk of it not working anymore or causing worse side effects.
Sooo I guess I'm stuck with this for now. Of course, I forgot to ask about the enemas (argh!) but he will be calling me back in a few days with my lab results so I will definitely ask him then.
Hope everyone is staying sane and healthy with this holiday season, at least it's almost over!
