Can somebody help me Please, racing heart

I dont know if this is a panic attack or something else,  Yesterday after a busy stressfull day at work.  I came home and ate to much for dinner.  about 45 mins after dinner I started to feel my heart race so i took my blood presseure with my electronic monitor.  My BP was 130/74 but my heart rate was 130, after I seen my heart rate was so high i started to kind of panic, i went and laid down but continued to monitor my heart rate.  It reached as high as 146 while laying down, and lasted for 2-3 hours.  This has happened to me 2 times this month and it always seems to happen after a stressfull day at work, and both times it occured I had skipped lunch because I was to busy at work, and both times I overate at dinner.  I have always had a fairly high heart rate (around 100bpm) but this really scared me.  My wife thinks that with my new found stress at work along with eating wrong, triggered a panic attack.  Has anyone else had these symptoms??

I've had something similar all my life. I was diagnosed with SVT (Supra Ventricular Tachacardia). My cardiologist put me on a beta-blocker and it helped dramatically.Do you have a cardiologist? My advice would be to call your regular doctor and go from there. Especially if it keeps coming back for no reason or while you are just relaxing. They may need to do an EKG. Do you notice that you feel stress right before it happens? If it keeps happening, you may want to get it checked out. Or just monitor it to see if it may be anxiety attacks caused by stress. I have had the same thing except mine happens first thing in the AM. I saw a cradiologist who ran a bunch of test..ECHO..stress test etc. I was given a 30day monitor to carry and finall had an episode to record and they for an SVT my rate was 240 beats per minute for 2 minutes.
To stop the episode you can try vagal teniques where you hold your breath and bear down like a bowel movement and your heart will slow down.
I am having an ablation nxt month to stop them from happening. I have a 1 year old and I can not stand worrying about having anther episode.

I had to also have the heart monitor for 30 days and they thought was maybe anxiety before and then they saw the episodes I was complaining about. I was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat. It was considered a rapid heartbeat and I am now on Toprol XL which has been working extremely well for me. Before I started taking it it felt as if my heart was going to explode out of my chest sometimes even felt like it was beating in my ears. Now I feel good as new. My episodes were not just around stress related things though so if yours are only due to stress then it very well could be anxiety related. Either way your doctor should definately take it serious.

After reading this i was wondering if anyone could help, currently my syptoms include rasing heart anyware from80 to 105 beats, my arms and legs are weak and over all i feel not so good. I moved down south and sense then had not such the best doctors. My current doc took a cbc with diff, but hats it. ordered me a heart monitor i will have to wear, but thats it. SOme ppl think thyroid others think nerological disorder like als. any ideas

Hi bill! I went through the same symptoms as the ones you are having right now. I visited a cardiologist. after going through several tests mainly cbc, ecg, holter monitor and stress test, i was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia. my heart was beating faster than normal. i was taking a beta blocker that time and my condition improved for a while. my mistake was i made the decision to stop taking the medicine altogether when i was feeling better. now the symptoms are back, and I'm seeing a cardiologist again this week. and since i'm also undergoing a fertility work up (i'm trying to get pregnant), i'm determined to follow everything that my doctor will advise me to do so that i can bear a child without having any complications with heart problems. some arrhythmias just go away, but some can be dangerous. so i encourage you to see a doctor as soon as possible.

and shelly, before being diagnosed with tachycardia my doctor had my thyroid hormones checked too since fast heartrates can also be symptoms of hyperthyroidism. i hope you can find a good doctor to diagnose your problem soon.

Bill please go see your doctor. Until then if this happens again try bathing your face in cold water, drinking a glass of water slowly, popping your ears, or doing what lawdog advised. Good luck! :)

Hi Bill!

What did you eat? MSG does this to me. I don't get the classic headache, it causes my heart to race. It sounds like your symptoms are related to whatever you are consuming and stress may aggravate the reaction. I would definitely make an appointment with your doctor just to be sure. You may want to ask your doc about checking you for diabetes because if your sugar gets too high or low (the crash after eating a high carb meal) you can have those symptoms.
