right ventricle heart pressure

Hello, i am usually in the lupus forum , but i have heart question. I have been diag with an auto immune disease, just trying to find out which one. I have been having pressure on my chest. rhumey did and echo to look for fluid, but found elevated pressure in right ventricle systolic pressure and plumonary artery systolic pressure. Can anyone tell me what this means?? should i go to cardiologist? Thanks everyone

Hi Dennylynn ,

I've read your other posts, and it somewhat reminds me as to what has been going on with me. I've been dealing with  pericarditis, which I'm wondering if that is what you might have as it is also something common with RA. I would definitley get into a cardiologist to see what is going on. In fact one of my episodes lead me to the ER with a partial collapse of my right ventricle. I'm not saying that is what you have but might be a possibillity. good luck and write if you have any other questions.

Hi dennylyn,

This is Kitt. Hemodynamic Cardiac parameters shows the normal right ventricular systolic pressure to be 20-30mmHg.

Pulmonary artery systolic pressues = normal 20-30mmHg.

Terminology: Right Ventricular Pressure (RVP) 

                  Pulmonary Artery Pressure (PAP)

AS I do not know what your readings were I would suggest you see a cardiologist just to be sure your cardiac status is OK.

Nothing actually. They said the partial collapse could have been from the fluid  pressing on it and that once the fluid went down it could revert back to normal, which it did. Now again I'm no doctor and there are a variety of other things of what you have could be. Pericarditis is an inflammation of the lining surrounding the heart and at times fluid will build up there. It's happened twice in the last year and a half for me. The amount of fluid in my case was small though, so anti inflammatories, colchicine and pain pills and rest was all that I had to do. Really, a cardiologist is your best bet, to ensure you get proper treatment.

Thanks everyone!!!. called dr today and he said that rvp and pap was 35. I am going to cardiologist on monday . I'll keep you posted
