Hi All,
My husband is an alcoholic who drinks between 18-30 beers per day for months straight at a time, with sometimes only a week's break in between a 3 month stretch.
He has been diagnosed a year ago with left bundle branch block (?) and mild concentric left ventricular hypertrophy (on echocardiogram), to which our regular dr. doesn't seem to be concerned about. Since I know alcohol is toxic to the heart, should I be concerned or look for anything in particular? He won't follow up this year as was suggested. He also had a thallium stress test last year, which showed no blockages, so he thinks all is good.
Any words of wisdom or insight for me? Thanks.
PS He also has type 2 diabetes, just diagnosed this year, and alcoholic liver disease for the past 3 years or more.
