Pfo problems almost 2 years after surgery!

I was sedated for my first TEE so I don't remember any of it, if you look at my we site I describe how I felt through the TEE, angiogram and MRI. The TEE is a walk in the park it is nothing, it feels worse because of the unknown, but honestly after all the stuff I have had done it is easy.

Good Luck and fingers crossed you don't need closure......... if you do take it from soneone who had 33mm I Feel  alive the best I have ever known! I can only talk fo me and I feel good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

  Well I got the TEE done and your husband was right wasn't bad at all. I almost puked the numbing stuff back up but oh well. Well the hole on a scale of 1 to 5 is not even on the the scale. the dr called it my nute. which means to small to do any damage. so i do not have to have surgery. i am so thankful for all your prays! and i'm so thankful that i went and got a second opinion. Well all thats left to do is to have a follow up with my primary dr that found the murmur and to take coated baby asprin for the rest of my life. Thank you so much laura for all the information you gave me and helping me get through the scarey times that i had. i pray that your husband keeps improving. And i wish you all the best of luck and the best of health where ever you may go!

smilewinkgrin  WOHOO!!!!! I am soooooo glad you got a second opinion and did not rush into anything.  Our prayers are answered.  The TEE is a pretty definitive test that gives the answers that allow you to move forward with the right treatment. I am so happy for you. Best of luck to you and your family. Give your girls a big hug and a kiss!! You WILL be able to see them grow up.  Enjoy every precious minute.  Take care.

I am grateful that I found this page. I just turned 39 and had a stroke on 30 November 2010. I do not smoke, I do not drink, I am not overweight and I workout on a regular basis... pretty much, a healthy person. The cause of the clot was uncertain until they did an echo on 15 December 2010. That's when they discovered the hole in the lower chambers (ventricles). I will be following up with my cardiologist next week. I am certain we will be going over our options. He mentioned about the PFO and it didn't sound promising... and by reading all the posts on here, it pretty much answered 90% of my questions. They placed me on 325mg of aspirin, high cholesterol medicine (for precautions), and recently started me on high blood pressure medicine. After my stroke, I have been feeling a lot of light headedness, get weak quickly, and don't seem to have much energy nowadays. I keep telling the doctors about my light headedness and my blood pressure acting like a roller coaster, but it seems like none of them can give me a concrete answer (that is from a cardiologist, neurologist, and family practice). My blood pressure normally runs around 116/62 and my heart rate in high 50 low 60s resting. I am uncertain what to do... and as of right now, I definitely don't want to do the PFO. Infact, I don't know why I am posting this... maybe sharing my concerns and searching for hope.

Hi Just wondering why you are having your device removed? Were you experiencing problems with your device? Which device?I had an ASD closure 20 months ago with the amplatzer device. I feel good and have had no problems.

ok please forgive me im new at this but i wanted info i couldnt get any where else. im having the pfo closure on friday nov18,2011. im a 32 year female and have migraines as long as i can remember. I however was not diagnosed because of them. I had a stroke july 21,2011. as well as tia's they couldnt figure out why until october when they discovered my PFO by doing a TEE. I am scared to death as I have heart problems on both sides of the family and im worried that something bad is going to happen. i have 4 beautiful children and am a single mom. i have a couple other issues such as asthma. and i cant go thru open heart cause its not an option but i dont want to have another stroke or any more migraines as i have better things to due with my life. i would love any and all oppinoins good or bad. as im not good with researching and came by this forum by accident.

I had surgery in 2006. I am a 48 year old female. I had to have both the Amplaster and CardioSeal occluders placed in my heart. The first year and a half was great. Then the headaches came back, fainting spells (syncopy), shortness of breath, stabbing chest pains that are random and only last for a 1-2 minutes. Very scary. My feet swell. Now I have high blood pressure. Always ALWAYS tired, no energy at all. Headaches, headaches, headaches I am at my wits end. I am currently on coumadin due to the fact I also have Factor V Leiduns (yay for me) a blood disorder where your blood clots too quickly. I am just waiting for the recall to announced. I felt better before my surgery. Is there anyone who has some of the same problems?   I also forgot to mention that I now have major major panic attacks. I am so scared that I can't even leave my house sometimes. When I do, I can only ride in the car if the doors are locked. Before the surgery I was a social buttterfly with lots of friends. Now I am almost a shut in.

Hello and a warm welcome to HealingWell.  I am sorry to read you are having problems and I am wondering what you cardiologist has to say about these symptoms you are having now ?  The physical sx you have described should be brought to the attention of your Dr. ASAP. 

I also have Factor V Leiden  discovered 2 years ago after what was a possible TIA.  All my tests were normal and I do not have a PFO so I take one baby aspirin a day.  When I was first told I had Factor V I went into panic mode  and thought of all kinds of wild case scenarios but then I met with a physician-geneticist who explained very well why I should just take the aspirin and put the scary information aside.

Obviously you have been through some very traumatic procedures and now have sx again so please do follow up with your Dr. and know I am thinking of you.

I am new to this site, but glad I found it. I am 43 years old, had an episode in 2010 what my Doctor then, told me was'nt a stroke. Where did this quack get his diploma from, DisneyWorld? If that person had sent me for test back then, I would'nt be sitting here right now reaching out for support. In April of 2013, I had a stroke, this one changed my life 4ever. I was sent for tests, which resulted in me having a pfo on May 8, 2014. I was told I (like everyone else) was born with a hole in the heart which is suppose to close when you leave the uteris, mine did`nt. To make a long story short, I still have these symptoms; headache, right hand is not the same as the left hand anymore, right side of face feels like it just got slapped, when I go for a walk,it feels like I`m hovering. Does anybody else have these same symptoms, if yes, will they go away. I am still in physio, take asa,rouvustatin,ramapril and clopidigrel daily, can someone tell me if there something else anything else I can do, or the proffesionals can do to get rid of these symptoms. This whole ordeal has caused me to aquire depression now, please HELP ME!
