Have you heard any news today? Anything that you'd care to discuss, or share?! Please don't be shy, we welcome other's thoughts and ideas here, let's just remember this Forum is about Heart Disease and anything we can learn to pass on to other's could be a wonderful thing!!

I do a lot of reading and research so I catch these stories, but I read where another study has shown that a surge of energy and a lot of physical activity, or a bout of extreme emotional distress can bring on a Heart Attack in people at risk.

I would imagine that's why my Dr. told me and actually encouraged me to be completely aware of the addiction of Klonipin, but to use it as necessary during the past many months with the added stresses of both of my parent's illnesses and then deaths. I have to add here, that I was very careful with the medication, and only used it during the extreme emotional time, but I'm glad I had it at hand.

This is also when my angina and my fibrillations increased! So I can believe this theory holds true in many cases.

So if you've never exercised and plan to start, get your Dr.'s okay and then start gradually~don't overdo the first workout, that's where the problems seem to occur.

Teri, great articles.I know stress can have an affect on heart health, that's why everyday for 2 yrs i started an exercise regimen.

I walk about three miles (sometimes more) just to clear my head. Sometimes i even pray, meditate and make decisions when i walk. Usually i walk alone, bcuz i want to take advantage of quiet time and blend with nature.

How wonderful, jtu! I'm unable to do a lot of physical things anymore, just standing the couple hours during the day and walking a bit at the shop are about all the exercise I can do~very fatiguing... :) However, for a while I was gettng into Tai Chi and that was a wonderful way to exercise and just concentrate~very peaceful music to go with it and you're in a zone. :) My arthritis keeps me from enjoying some of these other things along with the heart failure. That's why I encourage people and enjoy hearing from others like you that are trying so hard to stay healthy and fit!~that's the way to do it right!!

good articles teri

I do incline at 2.0 to 2.5 and speed 2.0 up to 3.0 on the tread mill 15 mon twice a day then I do my vegtable gardening and flower gardening too. after that when the weather warms up go up adn use the communitympool 6 miles from us it is an olympic size pool suppose to be heated but the water always feels cold to me but will start a swimming later on and bike riding with myred helmet of course and cell phone withme. I havenotcied too during times of stree my pulse goes up rather high and my thyroid starts to act up due to the tigers reacting to stress but I try to take it easy adn be careful too.

That Tai Chi sounds good but makes my upper bones ache thinking of it.

in our paper today their was an article that for women on statins and they said statins so I am guessing it covers all statins for it didnot name a particullary statin that takeing a statin can reduce our risk for Breaast cancer :-) cool   to me that is good news and one less thing to worry about.

I do my Self exams on the 12thof each month and get yearly mammograms I did have a few scares but they were fluid filled cysts but for women who also have breast cancer maybe this might keep them in remission.

Heidi, that article referencing statins and breast cancer, could be a win win for many us!!  Especially, if like me, you have a family member or yourself,  both with heart disease and breast cancer!!

    I just finished reading an article on multislice computered tomography that will supposedly take the place of a heart cath.  Heck if it lives up to its potential I'd rather try that first instead of another heart cath. yeah

Hey thanks MaryMe~that was a very good article~thank you for taking the time to investigate and put that here for us!!

 

My cardio Dr. happens to be my husband's Dr. tongue And they were just waiting on that machine to come in-was 3 weeks away, when my husband needed a heart cath.  He told my husband he would have been an excellent patient for it, as it seems to work better/more efficiently in people who've had no prior angiograms/or known plaque present with no previous heart disease.  At least this is what I originally heard~it may have already been improved since then! tongue

 

My husband's only symptom was high blood pressure and a false positive stress test.  His heart cath. was negative which was wonderful!!, but would have been nice if he wouldn't have had to go through that. yeah

what about the article they mailed me about if yuo have HYPO thyroidism not HYPERthyroidism but Hypo folks and Congestive Heart failure we are not going to come out of a attack or episode of CHF that good if our thyroid is out of whack even a little bit. News to me for I have hashimotoes thyroiditis and CHF

Wow, it's always something...but we've been hearing about these for a while in the news and like all med.'s sometimes we need to choose the least offensive to our health-at times we require some of these medications, however, watching the dosages and the amount of time we take them, may make a big difference.
