hi all,
re fast food: there are quite a few good sites out there that list
the most common fast food restaurants and their nutrition, so you
can see how much total fat, sat fat, mono fat, cholesterol, sodium,
etc that you are getting.
i went over that list and typed up for myself (yes, i know, quite anal!)
a list of places i like to go and what i can order there that is either the
least offensive to my ticker or actually even healthy! every place has
SOMETHING you can have. but you have to beware what i call
"tricks in advertising" - my favorite of the moment is the wrap craze.
it would seem that those would be so healthy. and in fact, most are
under 10 grams of fat. but if you're being VERY careful...for example,
chick-fil-a's grilled chicken wrap is 65 units of cholesterol - i'm trying
to limit myself to no more than about 200 a day, so 65 is a a pretty
big chunk. but you just have to balance everything out.
even the fast food salads can be little devils, with cheese, dressings,
all the extras sprinkled on. beware!
libby
