Mitral Valve Prolapse

I have problems with my Mitral Valve as well, though mine is just simply called Mitral Valve Regurgitation with stenosis (calcium).

 

Mitral Valve Prolapse can cause plenty of symptoms, or none at all!  Are you currently having any problems, besides the chest pressure?  Do your Dr.'s plan on doing any corrective surgery?

 

I found a site that gets into a better explanation than I could give you...so please look it over and let me know what other questions that you have~I'd be more than happy to answer any questions that I can!!

 

Re your chest pressure and pain?, have your Dr.'s told you that is normal for this??, or is this something new to you?  If that is the case, then do you have any other symptoms like arm/shoulder/neck/jaw pain?

i was diagnosed with MVP just last january. it was confirmed through a 2decho (ultrasound of the heart). sad to say im symptomatic like you. my symptoms include chest pain (number one for me), dizzines, fatigue, shortness of breath, lightheadedness..name it i had it! i've been to 4 cardiologists already and heart disease was ruled out. 3 out of those 4 cardiologists interpreted my stress test as non-ischemic. my 2nd cardio was a trauma when she said i have heart disease and started giving me meds. i started to get weak so i went to another cardio and he explained everything to me. still not satisfied, i then asked God to lead me to another person to tell me my situation so i found this 4th cardiologist w/o knowing that he's one of our country's top-caliber cardiologists (im from Philippines)..he confirmed MVP and i have mild regurge according to the echo and he also rechecked and re-read my stress ecg and assured me that i have no ischemia. besides, he said i was not even under the risk factor. (he's the only doctor who assessed me that way)

anyways, he gave me inderal 10mg 2x/day and just paracetamol for my chest pain. actually, my chest pain as it occurs now is due to my costochondritis not with mvp (as of now)...so there's how my story goes. have yourself checked by a cardio. remember the rule of an effective patient? You hired him, you can fire him. for your peace of mind...get a second opinion..even 3rd (even 4th like mine) hahaha! my chest pain is localized...i can spot it right away with my fingers. how abt yours? take care and keep in touch!
