I just want you to know, Kathlyn, that I think you are doing excellent!! The HDL and LDL are both in okay positions, but could use a little work-the statin will help you out a lot!! Right after an MI your heart muscle and EF do tend to be lower, but with time and healing, diet and exericise it truly helps!
I'm so glad to hear where you are now!! By the way "L" stands for low.
I read a lot and do a lot of research-throwing out or discontinuing Dr.'s advice re Lipitor or any statin is wrong! There are studies out there that have shown by discontinuing a statin, you could be causing yourself more injury!! Do not ever stop these med.'s without the advice from your Dr.-I cannot emphasize this more!
Many people walk around every day with aneurysms and what they watch for is growth and how fast it is growing. Any invasive procedure can cause harm, and if they are not growing, there is no immediate threat. My father had an abdominal aortic aneurysm for years and when he passed away last March, it was from a massive MI, not his aneurysm-that was intact and he lived to be 79.
Hugs, Teri
Please be careful of advice that you hear and what you give, none of us are Dr.'s and none of us know the specifics of the other member's health here on the board. I would never want to lead anyone astray and always encourage talking to your Dr.'s and asking them the questions.
