Star - How about just asking for the nitro patch? If it works, it would beat the heck out of the alternatives - especially another cath. I have so much chest pain I am beginning to think its 'normal'...with rare exceptions it's at annoyance level. My total drug arsenal consists of nitro and aspirin, and I have noticed that on days when I forget to take aspirin, I tend to have more chest pain. For me, also - stress is a huge contributor and I have to really knock off the stress. I know that winning the lottery would relieve that almost entirely. :) Yeah!!

I wonder if stress should be moved to the top of the list for cardio risk factors? Fortunately, it's "controllable". Bwuahahahaha.

I know we all have stress and that not all stress is bad stress, but I bet it (stress) contributes a great deal to heart disease! I imagine if we won a million it would surely take some of the financial stress off! I'm sure I'd manage to find some elsewhere though, lol. Stress that is.

I think a long long extended vacation plus not having towork anymore would certainly relieve some of my stress enough so that the rest wouldn't seem so bad--  I DO know when I was off work for 3 months when I had my ankle fusion I lost 30 pounds (and I was noteatingas healthy as I should but then I was at the mercy of my children and spouse) and soon as I returned to work the pounds started to pile back on and then Iwas controlling my diet and was eating much healthier obviously the stress must be at work LOL!!!

Ya know Oona I can't imagine why they haven't given me a nitro patch after I  keep telling them I feel the best when I am on a nitro drip (maybe I need to hit them over the head DUH!!! LOL!!) Course maybe there is a reason, my cp is tolerable because it comes and goes it is when it is persistent I usually end up in ER (YUK!)  but my sob is a much bigger symptom for me (except they seem to forget that) I told my pcp I WISH I HAD MY FATHER'S  CRUSHING CP then we would ALL KNOW when I am in trouble BUT I am NOT that easy--I suppose God just put me here to make them think or maybe teach a little who knows!!! LOL!  Thanks guys for all your support--it releives some of my stress just being able to vent and obtain different opinions-Thanks!!! yeah

Star, maybe they think a patch is better only if it's really persistent? - or maybe it's that they don't want to mask your symptoms in case you need to go to the ER - I would probably still ask & see what they say. I get a big headache from it, even when it's down on my calf so I think I'm better off with regular nitro.
Imagine how much better we could feel with the stresses of work GONE! You'd almost think it would be cheaper for ins. co's to pay for your early retirement instead of all the medical costs that work stress brings on! I'll bet that's a study that will never get done!
Kathlyn, are you saying you thrive on stress? lol!
I used to be addicted to it - now I just want to be on vacation!

yeah  Thanks Teri--great job as usual--  my pcp's office called me yesterday said he talked with my cardio again and they are going to "watch me"  and I am to keep ALL  appts. (my next appt is 8-9-05) I have heard that before that probably means they are going to "watch me" until I go to ER-

I thought I was so smart I told them the Cardizem made me worse (and I really think it did some) but now that I am back on the Toporol XL I have not seen much improvement--

am having a little more cp and a little more sob each day just like before I think I cycle--don't you?  I guess it is just deciding when it is "time"-Sorry I will quit--

Miss Teri are you still training the birds?

Oona does the patch act the same as the paste?  I can't do the paste it gives me migraines, but for some reason the drip doesn't  just a minor headache which is controlled with pain meds-

Star, I guess there's not a lot I can say or do at this point...?  But I'm sending you big hugs (((((Star))))) and hoping that they get this solved soon!!

 

Are you done with your physical therapy?  How is the facial numbness?  Did it get resolved with the therapy?

I am on the nitro poill not paaaatch my Doctor wilnot give me the patch for my other meds he tells me.

I also know stress affects our bodies worse than uor cholesterol numbers and I am like my FLorida Sister Oona have stress every day and we will always have strss till the day we die.

Yep If I won the lotery get anice house built and then hire a yard person too and then    try to realx too but I donot play the lotery  so the chance of me winnihng it is slim. But teri that is a good article on Stree. we all need to handle our stree in our own way too. I tend to play with my furkids or have a good long cry etc or if that bnad hop on my treadmill or garden work.

Miss Teri if you are talking about the traction on my neck I had to STOP before I was done because it was making me worse (it felt like someone was oing to pull my head off, course then the pain would go away LOL!!) my facial numbness is bettr every now and again I feel some of the numbness and tingling in my left arm but not too often  my ortho doc gives me Soma (my pcp said I should NOT take it anymore that it is not good for me, but it does help the cervical, shoulder arm thing)  My pcp also tld me to STOP the anti-inflammatories (sonow I can't walk without limping-go figure I want them to leave me alone!!! LOL!!!

I have an appt with the cardio downtown in August but I think I am going to cancel it because I don't want to go downtown--my next appt with my orginal cardio is in Sept

(if I last that long--who knows??)  Course my pcp I see in three weeks again-  ARE WE HAVING FUN YET???

I have a new kitten in the house-

Star, we could have BabyToo and your new kitten together and really have some fun!  BabyToo's not afraid of much...he's already pecked at the dog's nose! yeah

 

I remember now, you telling me that you had to stop the traction - sorry the memory's not as sharp as it once

was... eyes

 

Perhaps you should see the cardio Dr. in August?  I'd hate for you to wait too long of a time if there's something that could be done to help you!?

Miss Teri--- I am realy trying harder to stay closer to home afterall what kind of message is it sending my cardio if I keep seeing the other one? confused    Know what I mean I have got to stop seeing two cardios don't you think?  Even though my orginal cardio sent me to the other for a second opinion and then for the FFR--I think it is time I came back- I could be wrong IT WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME--

I bet the kitten would love Baby too!!  She is really fairly gentle for a kitten--she even sleeps with me!!

HAd a good nights sleep and really enjoyed chat last night. even though we hqad some speed demons on it and some super women too not nameing names you got to come and visit and find uot who they are ok.

Me I doing ok allready had my morning cry then I got  this beautiful poem frm Jim Willis since I do rescue work

           THE ANIMALS SAVIOR

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter... the cast-off's

of humane society.

I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread,sadness and betrayal.

I was Angry,

"God,I said "this is terrible"! Why don't you do something?"

God was silent for a moment then He spoke softly

"I have done something" He replied

" I CREATED YOU"

 

He thanked me for doing rescue work for the dogs and cats trying to get them good homes and also for guiding Beau to the bridge..

 

So I cried again but am giving love to our other animals.

 

Star what is your nw furkids name? what type of kitty too. We have an 18 year old white Aproicot Sisamese cat that sleeps by uor head of ur bed at night.

 

Libby how is yur furkid the one who had the accident get his/her kidneys checked out it culd be kidneys and the kidneys trying to go into renal failure. if other one  did you change food etc...? I just hate to see any furkid sick. We have a 15 year old black lab is oldest amongest uor dogs yungetst ius 3 next year then we also have cats oldest 18 youngest 6 as they go to the bridge no more.

My new kitten is a heinz 57 it is all gray  and really long hair-really pretty only about 8 weeks old and sleeps right next to my head too!

We thought it was a girl so we named her Callie now my daughter is telling me it is a boy! So I am not sure what we will call it--

 

We also have alot of barn cats about 13 of them --we also have a chocolate lab in the house, he is really gentle

 

We used to have ducks, chicken, turkeys, beef cows, ponies- geese (I am glad to be down to cats and dogs) I forgot we also have about 20 rabbits- tongue

This is not new info to lots of women, but I'm a true believer in keeping women informed as we are still not as aware of our statistics and heart disease. I did see a commercial recently though that pointed that out. This is more about women and menopause:

Menopause Brings New Heart Risks

Heart disease kills more American women — one in three — than any other condition. It also can lead to disability and decrease your quality of life. Yet, many women don't take the threat of heart disease seriously.
Menopause, however, is a time when you need to get very serious about heart disease because your risk for it starts to rise. It's more important than ever to talk with your health care provider about how to lower your risk of heart disease — or, if you already have it, to keep it under control. Ask about your "heart disease profile," a checklist of the heart disease risk factors you already have or are at an increased risk of developing.

Risk factors are behaviors (smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, etc.) or conditions (family history of heart disease, being age 55 or older) that increase your chance of developing a disease. The more risk factors you have, the greater your chance of developing the disease. For heart disease, having multiple risk factors doesn't just add risks — it multiplies them. It's vital to prevent them or, if you already have any, to keep them under control.

THnaks for the great article Kathy yes all the women need to take that into account too. I have ben through menopause no medicine no nothing and glad I am over it finally. the night sweats got to me worse adn mew with heart disease and knowing my twin brother died at age 43 and my mom at age 55 . But I am trying to eat right and listen to my doctors orders too.
