yes back in 2004 when I went up to DC with my Vol Job Susan Wood from FDA and  Mr Wood from NIH told us women arenot in manmy trials and we need to be because our bodies are different and bodies are smaller too.But many women donot ask about the trials and are mising out on alot of trilas. also ikn one clinical trila for smaller pacemakers out of 550 people only 10 were woman and they needed more so check ut you state ask your Doctor if theya re any clinicl trilas going on in yuor areaok folks for women are not small men our bodies, systems and  symptoms are different from a mans and the male doctors are just now learning this.

Something like 50% would be nice (and appropriate). It irks me no end that this is happening. Mice get better representation in ALL studies than women.

Yes   ladies i learned at DC we are only included in 21% of clinical trials for women though. we do ned to contact NIh and e-mail them and get in contact withthe senator or Congress man or woman in your state about including women in clilnical trials.

I agree that women need to be included in more studies. I myself complained of chest pain for almost a year before I finally had a heart cath which should my blockage. All other non invasive test was normal. Go figure. Yes I agree that we need to be included in more studies. After all heart disease is the #1 killer of women. God Bless us All!!!!!

You are so right Marry Me that many of us women have had our heart attacks mis diagonised I was one too. but yes ask yur cardio Doctors for trilas in yur area or ook at the link Teri gave and then hit clinical trials ok. We do need more women involved in clinical trials and it is a shaame ony 21% in tials we do have smaller hearts, arteries etc and what is good fro a mans body is not good for ur body for we are smaller and we arenot men.

Something that I've come across in my research is that there are a lot of trials being offered by the .gov sites and many of them dealing with Heart Disease are being offered to anyone willing to join in the study.  They all have their exclusions, however, if anyone is interested in checking this out go to one of those sites or use the search bar and put in clinical trials for heart disease.

 

Perhaps someone will find something that is right for them - if that's what you'd like to try?! yeah

 

My allergist offers clinical trials all the time in his studies of that condition and even asked if my daughter or I would like to join in, but I didn't want to at that time, because the med. I was then taking was helping me already. :)

 

I wonder though how many people really want to do this?  Especially if you have a lot of health problems.

 

I'd love to hear from you on this?!  Would you like to go into one of these clinical trials?

That is such a good question, Teri. I would enter a stem cell trial in a nanosecond if they would take me, but I am almost positive I wouldn't enter a drug trial, especially not a phase I or II, but probably not at all. I don't like taking any drugs, but when I really have to I want something that's been around for a long time and with minimal side effects.

I would have to weigh the pro's and con's too for I also have numerous health problems and  takeing the wrong medicine could affect anyone of my medical conditins.

Takeing stem cells from my bone marrow and inject it into my heart to replace the damage the size of a quarter to it I might  due it then. but so much stuff to lok at and weigh too. I know Shands always is doing one on HBp and  Heart Attacks too but Yu cannot have more health problems than heart it said on the card I read.

So I would be up in the air unless like Oona stem cell to replace my damaged heart muscle.

I swear I didn't plan this, but about an hour ago, the phone rang and it was one of those phone surveys - I have caller ID and saw this and was about to just say no thank you...however she seemed very nice and she as soon as she mentioned the Topic of the survey, I about fell over!  It was a survey about Health Care in the United States and what I felt was important for the government to study!!

 

You guessed it!  My answer was Women and Heart Disease, specifically Coronary Artery Disease. I tried to add more, but the survey only allowed one topic of interest.

 

I had to answer about 15-20 minutes worth of questions, but I keep hoping that more people answer their phones today and take a few minutes to spare to answer this type of survey!!  You never know, it could help!?

no not me yet with phone ringing yhet I had one last month on the subject of pets and adoptions my cup of tea too hey we ned to call that lady and us all give our input.
