Do any of you have a DNR?????????????

No, I don't have one, but I've spoken to my husband and family and made it clear what my wishes are in case of something serious happening.

I know here in Florida you spell it out like no brain wave and chance of  coming out of a coma .  It gets down to the nity gritty too like if your vitals go down hill ,or if vitals are ok and your Doctor tells family their is no chance of survival too. I was also told please have someone else beside a family member decide when to pull the plug if need be. It is up to each and everyone of us. Oona I do know the teaching hospitials have something called the 5 wishes you go through the book check what you want done and then have 2 witness sign it like a friend  neighboor even your doctors nurse etc and they use that if you go into the hopsital .My Husband knows donot pull the plug till I have no brainwave. He was the one in a coma for 3 months had to learn to walk,talk,eat all over again and  the wreck affected his sense of balance but it all depends on want too. So Oona ask for the book the  5 wishes next time you see the doctor look through it ok and that can answer more than I can go into here ok.or e-amil and I can explain more ok.

For some reason I find this very confusing (denial? ) and I can't seem to remember the differences.

I do have an advance directive - my hospital required it, and since Schiavo most hospitals won't check you in without one. I have not ever had a DNR though. I would probably consider it at some future point.

Thanks for the site Oona, I am like yu advance directive I have had it in place since 1999 but a DNR  I donot have yet gues it all depends on the circumstance I wuld feel guilty if I have it then  my family finds uot later on I could of been helped, don't want to make them feel guilty. I know back in the 70's my grandma on my dad side had one she has had  heart attacks and lund disease due to her smoking and had one. she was in her 80's folks. These are my adopted grandparents though. When we went to clean her apt it reaked of smoke and white curtains were a very light yellowish color due to her smoking. BUt again thanks for the links Teri and Oona.
