catheter ablation for A-Fib

Hi Folks...I hope you can help guide me. I am 54 years old and have had AFIB for 10 years. I take 150 mg of rythmol in the a.m. 225 mg in the afternoon and 150 mg at night. I swim, bike and run excessively. I run marathons and have completed an Ironman Triathlon last November. In the last year my AFIB has gotten worse...to the point that the rythmol is not reliably effective. The Doc's in Boston suggest a medicine called Tikosyn or catheter ablation. I was thinking ablation, but had started reading about a lot of slow to no recoveries, feeling fatigued...ugh. I also work on my feet and depend on being in good shape to earn a living. Is anyone on Tikosyn? Am I being unrealistic to think I can return to marathons and triathlons and compete? The Doc's say I would need to be on coumadin for 30 days if I had the ablation...Is that realistic? I don't want to be on it for the rest of my life. If I go the route of correcting it with Tikosyn...They say I will need to days in the hospital just to get started...

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

just seen these posts, I am 37 year old male, my heart rate hits 130-150 while jogging adn might have alot of PVCs while jogging. ( Premature Ventricular Contractions), but doc says don't worry about them and try to ignore them, this was after all the tests to rule out all the bad stuff. No more a-fib since the ablation.. sorry for the delay,I have jumped around alot of posts and lost track of everyone I have commented on.. Alot of good info and support here, so many people with our problems who are going throught the same thing.. I have aneurysms at the root of my aorta and a hole in my heart also, those are what scares me, not my palpitations..
