thought i would share some about me. relevant, obviously. diabetic. even though my cholesterol was never too bad; however the cholesterol had built up. long story short, had severe shortness of breath, could hardly walk with pains down my left side. was having NSTEMI. doc did ekg, said ambulance coming. get to emergency. they said your heart is being very naughty and your up on the ward. so on ward, weird up with heart monitor, having stacks of angina and angenine. so next step, angiogram. bloody cold in there. i was cracking jokes as usual. get back on the ward, later the technician comes in and says, mate, no stents for you. 75% blockage in one and 50 in the other. by-pass for you. so 2 week of work up. i mean everything.
so prep, shave down for surgery, don the gown and my head wear. nurse, who i became mates with through in an extra ferneranin. 3. i was relaxed. so down in the ante room the anethetist and nurse are doing all there stuff. i wave good night. i wake up in ICU. intubated. look down nothing coming out of my chest. nurse says he will explain. basically a code was called as i went into anaphlaxis. i was 1 of those 1000 they talk about. a code was called and i was pumped with adrenaline. back on ward. another week or so. surgery happens. was cheated, only two ernergin. surgery successful. intubated, came out, was put on the morphine and hit the buttons right on the minute allowed, the nurse cracked it. so i go on the walker. i walk fast and the nurse was trying to slow me down. i was telling them to get out of my way. i did 2 laps of ICU.
so up on the ward. do the huffing. that hurts. was pumped with frusemide. so pumped i had a catharter most of my stay. so 1 day on the ward i was having breathing difficulties. they tried that little black bugger that is so tight, it wasn't happening. a call was made and like 8 dr's came from nowhere. down to ICU. a few hours later the doc comes up to me and says, your not producing wee, we are going to let you have a sleep so we can work on you. i went into renal failure, was on dialysis, so my frantic sis said, and i went into inotropic heart failure. blood pressure and lung thingy. ater 32 days i walked out of that hospital. the surgeon came up to me and said, your surgery, mainly smoking and diabetes. he said you have sleep apnea.
so i had a study, sleep study a year before, but nothing, this time bad. have very obstructive sleep apnea rem hyperventilation-still trying to get my head around that, and sleep maintance insomnia. always knew this. so i now use cpap. did a six week cardiac rehab program. eat good, walk everyday. surgery was nearly 2 years ago. have not touched a ciggie and never will again. had another surgery earlier this year, for something else and was intubated for breathing difficulties. so no more surgeries, deemed to at risk; had my fare share anyway. doing better. double by pass with extra precautions. was 8 hours. they are awesome people. just thought i'd share. was in ICU about 10 days. when i came out of being put to sleep i was heavily sedated and was seeing some trippy stuff. man was i hallucinating. my sis would come in, i would talk and she would go, i opened my eyes up and said, oh your still here, she said i was here yesterday. did that for a few days.
the worst pain is ya chest (sternum re-knitting.) so watch what you eat, do not smoke, exercise. that's my heart story. found out i was iron deficient from bloods and anemic. got a lovely decent staph infection as well. now that took months to heal. you always take something home. you appreciate life a little more after something like this.
