"Possible Enlarged Heart"

I went to my general doc who ordered blood work and an EKG.
Today I got a call saying, he wanted to do an Echocariodio because my heart might possible be enlarged. zHe used the word "mild", and he said not to worry. He said my heart rhythm was fine.

I went to see him cause i fainted Sunday, felt nauseas and dizzy. However, it passed in about 20 min.

Well I am worrying a lot, and I am scared. I have never experienced being out of breath, no swelling. Just what happened the other night. Please anyone let me know your thoughts.....I went online and so scared.

I am 44, never had any serious health issues.

Please help me if you can...

I had a doctor tell me 10 years he thought I had an enlarged heart. Went for the echo and it turned out to be nothing but gas. Get the echo results, and then assess this.

Ok he did say, could have a possible mild enlarged heart. I don't know what that means in doc language.

Hi Worried & welcome to Healing Well. I know you are upset & somewhat alarmed but having an echo is a good way to determine of there is anything going on. The echo is an easy test, similar to a sonogram nothing to it. I have one yearly because of valve issues to monitor things.

Since the dr is not positive there is an issue, try not to stress yourself out. Stay away from Dr Google, he is never right, lol.

Enlarged heart is found when comparing a baseline echo (when hearts was not having issues) they measuring the walls with the heart and its chambers. The heat will enlarge primarily when it is under stress and having to work extra hard to do its job. Typically a defective valves somewhere with it the heart itself. So many times there is little to no outward signs of a enlarging heart till it is to late, but it is very dangerous to let go untreated. A tully enlarged heart = a damaged heart. The enlargement is for the most part irreversible and will not function the pumping power need to do regular daily activity. The next step is for vital organs to not be getting proper blood flow AKA congestive heart failure.

I may make it sound oh so simple but it is not. I urge friend to not think of enlarged heart because it is easy to detect test wise, but difficult to predict. Cardiologist today pretty much have a good handle on it. After a certain age your Dr have probably already have checked you for and may have a base line echo already. So don't worry about it just be a aware of your body and its signs.


I am no Dr but speak from experience, this is my experience and in no way want to give the impression your issues will be or are the same as mine..
