chest pain but everything normal

Hi everyone,
I am very new to this chest pain thing and really confused about what's happening. it started 3 days ago, I was in bed at about 9pm and suddenly had gnarly heavy ache in the left top side of the chest, it lasted for about 30 min then got milder but was still there, I took an aspirin and went to sleep only to wake up 3 times from crazy palpitations for a couple of minutes. went to ER in the morning the chest pains were very mild, they did blood, xray, ecg and said it's not you heart go home, only to call me 3 hours later to say that my d-dimer test was wrong and it's positive now so come back and do CT angiogram, i did and it was clear too. so I went home, still having chest pain they come and go and seem pretty random - one minute it hurts when i am walking and pretty active, and then it hurts when i am sitting and resting. I've read that positive d-dimer indicates clots anywhere in the body and they should of done an ultrasound of the legs, arm etc to look for it. Now I'm feeling like a ticking bomb, and don't know what to do, the Gp will be open only on Monday and going to ER is pointless i think. So my question is is it possible to have a heart problem with all normal tests and what do I do with possible clot?

no, d-dimer was positive they said 1.3 whatever that means

Hi Delta, where were you sent for the echo? I ask because my cardiologist has a tech that does all of the echo’s in the office. It is a group of cardiologists too, I will add. Did you get a copy of the echo report, if not ask for a copy. When I see my cardiologist at the check out we are given a sheet that recaps the appt & also a copy of all tests results.

I think you are letting the what if’s eat you alive. It sounds like the stress of this is causing anxiety. Anxiety can cause so many symptoms that make a person think they have this or that. I suggest you stay off of google for the same reason.

I am not a dr, but have dealt with heart stuff at a very early age. I am much older now, lol. This pain coming & going is not typical.

See the cardiologist & I would get a copy of the echo & take it so the cardiologist can review it. Do not rely on your pcp having it there for review.

I think just to give you peace of mind on this trip, perhaps call your pcp's office & speak with the nurse. Explain your fears & the pending trip. She can talk to the dr & get back with you. People fly all the time with heart issues. The most important thing on a long flight is to get up & walk around. This has been advised for years for everyone on long flights to get up & walk around.
