I have been having left side chest pain for some weeks. My pain is almost always there in the left side. It some times sharp and sometimes dull it is off to the left side of my breastbone. I gets worst when I am working or stressed. A little history in the past I have had 4 stress tests all have come back normal. Three years ago I had a complete Cardo work up. This was a stress test and were the inject dye into blood and watch the heart work. And a heart cath. The Dr said there was no blockage and all the test were normal. My blood pressure is always around 125/78 and my weight is 170 and I am 70in tall. I am thinking it is anxiety. I need some one to talk to.

Hi M60 & welcome to Healing Well. The good news thus far is your cardiac work up has all been normal. Are your symptoms now any different than what they were when you had all the testing done?

Anxiety can cause a person to have many different types of symptoms. This forum has a lot of posts from individuals that thought it was their heart when it was anxiety. A lady I use to work with, her husband had anxiety. They ended up calling am ambulance & after being checked out, it was anxiety rearing it’s head.

My question is what do you do when it hits? Have you discussed it with your dr?

I try to clam down. but when my chest starts hurting the anxiety gets bad. The pain has always been on my left side. The pain now is on the left side of my breast and sometimes it moves under my breast bone. But always starts when I get up in the morning and last all day. Just started taking Paxil.

M60, it can take several weeks for the medication to become totally effective, so please try to give it a good trial. In the meantime, consider looking into learning some coping skills on how to handle the anxiety when it strikes. I hope you can get it under control.
