Told I need Lft Side Heart Catherization

Welcome, BigCountry! I had a heart cath last year because of an irregular EKG. This was to see if there were any blockages and if he found one, he would put in a stent. He went in through the groin.

(First off, they do shave you a little in the area.) And you'll get some sedation through an IV but you are still conscious. When they took me to the procedure room and placed me on the table, I didn't feel anything. In fact, I didn't care where I was. I knew he was doing something and watching a large screen above the table. I could have watched too if I wanted but I just felt in lala land. He didn't find any blockages so I didn't get any stents but if there had been a need for a stent he would have placed one right then and there. Before I knew it, they wheeled me back to the holding area and monitored me. Then to a temporary room where I slowly became more alert. The surgeon came in and talked to me (and my husband and daughter). (Our daughter is a nurse who works in the same hospital.) And when he left, the charge nurse and my daughter went and got me something to eat because you have to fast beforehand. When I was able to get up myself, I got dressed and went home.

No pain. It was pretty fast and felt very safe. I did ask a lot of questions about this in his office before because I was nervous. Not ashamed to say I was also scared. Nowadays, when they take the cath out of the vein, they put in a "plug" to close it up. No stitches or clamps or anything like that. They say you shouldn't drive for 24 hours.

Hello everyone! Going to make a long story short if I can
Started with a diagnosis with an enlarged heart after a chest x-ray by primary physician during routine physical. Said I need to go to cardiologist. My cholesterol was high, and they gave me wrong medicine for that per cardiologist. After 3 days of testing, the cardiologist said my left inner wall had a flow issue. So I went and had the heart catherization, and NO issues were found. Only thing that came out of this and the mis-diagnoses, was the doctor's made a lot of $$$$.
