ECG, stress test, and echocardiogram "normal"

So all these tests I took are cited as being "normal", but I am still feeling the weird beat and then a pause, and thenback to normal beats?  My question is, if all these tests are normal and they haven't labeled me as having any problems, what else do you guys think it could be?  I exercise regularly and am trying to eat healthy!  Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like premature heart beats commonly known as PAC's or PVC's depending on if they originate in the upper or lower chamber of the heart. If your ECG, stress test anad echo were normal, they are definately no big deal. Also if you didn't have any during one of your tests, they wouldn't show up. You would probably have to wear a holter or monitor to capture them. They are completely benign with your normal workup but that can be really hard to believe at first. I've had them for a long time and I still hate them! If I only have a few, I can ignore them but sometimes there can be quite a few for many hours. Then I have a hard time with them.

Thanks for the response.  I did wear the holter monitor for 24 hours and I had them during that timeframe.  However, the doctor didn't specifically say PVC or PAC.  She just said the reading was normal.  I know when my body is functioning "right".  I wonder if I should get a second opinion.  Thanks again for your reply.

I'd call her and ask if the monitor showed PAC's and/or PVC's because so many doctors will consider these "normal". They just don't understand how upsetting these things can be to their patients. Fortunately I have a cardiologist who experiences them daily himself. So he is great about sympathizing and understanding. Good Luck.

Hello there...I have had attrial fibrulation for almost 15 years and suffered a stroke almost 2 years ago because of it...when i was 29 it all began and i was sent home and sent home had stress test and thalium stress test and holter monitor etc..name the tests i had them but the problem was that when i had the tests i was in normal sinus rhythm which didn't help..then i was put on blood pressure meds...to make a long story short i still have attrial fibrulation and the meds aren't working ,,,i should have been put on aspirin 81mg dose once a day a long long time ago ...my next thing is ablation surgery...so don't take the abnormal beats lightly..especially is it makes you tired and breathless thats a sure sign your not well..Keep a journal of every episode get a blood prssure cuff...notice when it hits you most...write down what you were doing at the time of the episode..how you felt etc...hope this helps and keep on this...i was also told i wouldn't have a heart attack when i went to the emergency room in December of 2003 and 6 months later i had the stroke...so be vigilant if you feel something is wrong then don't stop to find the answers..also get the holter monitor for 48 hours instead of 24..these things come and go so there are no guarantees that the day you have it on you will have symptom....hope this helps...take care and god bless...Therese
