Hello everyone, I have searched long and hard for a forum just like this. I have type II diabetes diagnosed just over a year ago, and just last September was diagnosed with CAD, I too have I think? 100% blockage in the largest artery and my body made it's own bypass. I'm so scared that I'm just going to keel over dead, and I can't stop thinking about it! I just want to break down crying all the time...and my husband quote says "its not life threatening"!! I just need to let it out and find support. From what I have read I'm in the right place. I'm at work right now, so can't stay...but I will be logging in when I get home. Welcome to HW sharplle,I also had a100% blockage that made its own bypass.I have other health related issues now, which is why I am here as well.People here are very nice and very helpful. It is very normal to be scared about heart related problems, I still have heart trouble and it can be very scary at times.I wish you well and hope that you can get the help you need,you've come to the right place.

Hi Hope...I just wanted to respond to this one part here.  I read an article about a month or so ago and saw it on the news also that researchers are finding out that women respond differently to medications and medical procedures then men do.  It said that in the case of like pain medications women required higher doses as their bodies break them down at a quicker and higher rate.  I wish I could remember what health magazine that was in, I will look for it.  Anyhow, it continued to say that it was a huge breakthrough as a lot of women complain about the ineffectiveness of their medications.  I guess they are mostly geared toward men?  I dont know.  I just thought it was interesting.

Welcome Sharp to our HW family. So sorry your having these problems. If i wasn't happy with the docs i'm seeing, find another one. It's your life and your dime. I have mutli-heart problems and diabetis. [iddm 2 ] And being a woman we are one of a kind. I fight daily for my life and god has been good to me. The extra stress on you is not good and i don't think you will be satisfied until you have the answeres you are looking for. I will keep you in my prayers. DELTA

Sorry I was so late in replying to you. I don't know any real specifics about your CAD, though I would like to help. I am having a real fight with it, myself. I am waiting on the "feeling better now" from the last 2 stents I received, 6 weeks ago. It hasn't made it yet. I may even be getting worse. That is depressing to read, I know, but it is how I feel at this point in my life. I think the best that I can hope for now, is bypass surgery. It was recommended by my local hospital cardiologist 6 weeks ago, but I was transfered to another larger, and better hospital that placed the 2 stents vs performing surgery on me. I do fear that surgery.

The emotional impact is sometimes overwhelming. One needs to have faith in something, I think, and this may be one of my problems.

The British medical system is slow. I have roamed a few heart disease boards for several years now, and have heard some horror stories. Here in the states, we get treatment on time, but you never know about the quality of treatment you are getting.

Here, if you want to find out how well your hospital staff ranks with others, you can pay through hospital data type websites, or maybe luck up on some statistics by doing some heavy googling.

I want some competition amongst the hospitals. Someone needs to give them a grade!!!!!!! I have more on this subject but the time has come for me to turn the soapbox over to someone else :)
