Hi Jessica...
Wow what a coincidene (sp) I am 36 weeks pregnant today and i myself have Mitral Valve Prolapse. It is kinda scarey i admit but i have learned to deal with it.. the only thing that i find is that i have alot more of heartburn and heart palps that i am sure most pregnant women have, however i also have GERD ( Acid Reflux Disease) too. I do not take medication for the MVP, as dr said it is mild.. please for the sake of your baby dont stress over being told you have MV.( i know easier said than done) I have read about all of regurgitation/prolapse too and know the options, however most of the time either change of lifestyle, no meds, or meds is required,, surgery is usually a last resort or if its really bad. The way i look at is this... for one.. dr told me on the phone that i had it too (if it was really really serious he wouldnt have), also the dr that i am seeing for my pregnancy and the nurse practioner say its really not that big of a deal.. more people have it than we really think. My husband acts the same as yours, i dont think he knows how to react and doesnt want to think about it.. plus i do have anxiety issues (i think related to this) so he always thinks that i am over reacting. For my diagnosis it was the echocardiogram too,, i had the holter too and all they found was a few benign heart palps so i can totally relate to you,, if you need to talk i am here,,, take care,, hope i have helped a bit.
