open heart surgery then car accident

had open heart surgery 2 years ago, the wendsday before christmas i was in a car accident where a lady hit me from the passenger side slamming me against the car door.  ever since then i have been haven pain in my chest, not like heart pain, but where the breat bone was cut.  any idea why or where i can read more about it? thank to all in advance.

Hi wvjeeper, Welcome to healing well forum.  Wow! it sounds like you have been though quite a bit.  I have tried to find info via internet but have came up empty handed.  I guess i am not too sure what your looking for exactly.  I am going to post the link to the American Heart Association and see if you can find what your looking for.  They have several pages on open Heart Surgery...but as to related trauma afterwards that is up in the air.

thanks..glad i found a place i can turn. a little about me. i am now 39. in aug 04 i had a heart attack, sept of 04 had a stent and a thing they call roto rooter to clear out plaque..mar of 05 triple bypass surgery, may of 05 stent to reopen a stent, july of 05 angeo, aug of 05 stent in a stent. have been through the works. still kicking and fighting.

jeeper, Jeepers, what a nightmare you are describing.  why in the world do you think your arteries reclogged so quick after the roto rooter?  were you taking all your meds. i am very curious because i do not take any statins and other things they insist we need to be on, and so far i am okay.  give me the scoop,  thanks

i have always taken my meds as i was told to do. never miss a dose. i do know from my own trials that i have done much better since they put me on a c pap machine for sleep apnea. have been told severl times that it can cause cardiac problems. was a very very loud snorer for the past 12 years. now i don't make a sound. hope some of this helps..feel free to ask me any questions. on a total of 21 pills to get through the day.

Hello...in my opinion, it sounds like this is pain not related to your heart condition but to the actual accident. Like when I got in a car accident I had neck pain for a while. Its just the pain that comes along with a slam like that. Thats what I think anyways. .....feel better!

:-)  thanks for the scoop.  i tryed a sleep apnea machine and could not sleep with it on. i got one hour of sleep and from that they deduced that i had minor sleep apnea.  i wonder if the other ladies who were healthy before have snoring issues also, i will inquire when we have our chat next week, hope to see you there.

I also think this is perfectly normal. As long as the pain is not in the heart I wouldn't worry. Your body took a big jolt. It's gonna take awhile to get back to normal. My surgery was just a little over a year ago and I hurt my chest often just lifting and playing with my little girls.

If the pain persists, I would see my Doctor! Fur sure!

i also had a car accident not too long after a quad by pass. Shook me up a little but those paper cliffs stayed right where the were put in the first time.It always pays to check with your cardio man or women and have them take a look at you ..just to be on the safe side. Sounds to me like you just might have a few good years left to play on this wonderful universe , so get your self checked so you can come out and play for a long time
