Anyone Know How To Find Physicians in Your Are to Patch PFO

Can anyone tell me how a person finds physicians in your area that are qualified to perfomr the patching of pfo's?  My wife has a pfo and it may need to be patched.  Any help would  be good.

wow I try to see where you are and I see nothing in your profile sigh you know I'd like to recommend the Foothills Hospital in Calgary Alberta Canada but who knows where you are, I could be continents off on a good suggestion . Goodluck it sounds serious I had two stents through angioplasty .

Hi, Jehosaphat. Sorry that so far nobody has been able to help you. I wanted you to know that many of us have read your post, but since we don't have anything useful to say we have not posted.

My own personal experience was of blindly and instinctively finding my way to my doctors and finally to a correct diagnosis and treatment, but it took months and months of searching and uncertainty. Hopefully, other members had a more methodical way of finding their doctors.

Sorry I couln't help, but I at least wanted to let you know that we are here and we are reading your posts!

Hi Jehosaphat. I was lucky enough to live close to a large metropolitan area. My Cardiologist does not close PFO's but did recommend several options in my area. I did some research and went with the guy who is the head cardiologist at a major hospital. He seemed to have done the most closures and is on the leading edge of cardiac problems. He travels to foreign countries to teach them how to do these closures. As a matter of fact my procedure was videoed so that it could be shown for teaching in Korea. Since we don't know your location it would be hard for any of us to recommend someone.
