Hello,
I am 42 years old and just had my first stress/echo test. My heart seems to beat fast and hard when I pull weeks or do other physical activities.
I AM not in great shape and am 5' 9 1/2 " tall weighing 195 pounds.
The stress test is 3 minutes warm up, 3 minutes hard, and then 3 minutes even more difficult.
I only made it for the 6 minutes total and my Cardiologist said I made it to the target heart rate and to stop.
He said he could put me on a very mild beta blocker to slow the heart down OR I can increase my heart muscle by excercising (which I don't do at all). I have a follow up in 3 months. I am opting for excercise
Here is my question:
Is it normal to get to your target heart rate this early in the test IF you are out of shape and do not physical activity? Thank you kindly.
Susan
