Pericardial Stripping Surgery

Has anyone had a Pericardial Stripping surgery to get rid of their Pericarditis? If so any information you can give me on it would be greatly appreciated.

I recently just saw a Cardiologist for my Pericarditis that I have been suffering with for over 5 years now and she said I have exhausted all medication options and that surgery is my next option. I'm really scared to have heart surgery at such a young age (I'm 31) so wanted to see what other have gone through and what their results were.

Hello,

May I ask if you have constrictive pericarditis ? I have not had this procedure but have read a little about it.  Hopefully someone with first hand knowledge will come along.

They have never said I have constrictive pericarditis, but from all the research I have done it does sound like that is what I have. One thing though for me is I have never had fluid build up yet. So its strictly inflammation in the lining for me.

I was diagnosed with Constrictive Pericarditis in October '10. Been dealing with it since then, on and off different medications (none of which have worked). I will be having the Pericardiectomy (removal of lining) in a few weeks at Cleveland Clinic. I have a very good cardiologist and experienced surgeon.
Are you still dealing with this problem?
