Hi friends, Good day.

I am at zero level knowledge while writing this post.

My cousin gave birth to a baby girl on last friday. Yesterday doctor did ECHO test and the results are below.

As per doctor there is a hole in the bottom of the heart (As per doctor a hole in the upper heart would have healed easily by itself)

Doctor has told that we need to get the baby operated after 3 months and she has told she can give only 5% hopes after the operation.

Pelase read her conclusions in medical terms below and comment please. Thanks for the time.

Viveca, this is a very serious congenital heart defect; the "TOF" at the bottom of the report stands for Tetrology of Fallot. It is a combination of four changes in the baby's heart anatomy that cause serious problems with growth and if untreated can be fatal.

There are surgeries to treat this condition and yes, they do surgery when the baby is very young. Please don't give up hope, for some children thrive and do well after surgery. As the doctor said, though, it's not a sure thing.

At this point your cousin can use your support and love. Reassure her that this was not caused by anything she did or didn't do. The baby needs love too, and most important, she needs human touch. A lot of people will be afraid to touch a sick baby, but touch is really important for infants.

I'm so sorry your cousin is going through this, but she's lucky to have your support. I know the people here at the heart forum will be along as the day progresses to offer you more information and support.

Tetralogy of Fallot (sometimes called TOT or TET) is a very complex condition, but much of the time treatable with surgeries

Where are you located and does your cousin have the ability to travel to a hospital?

@Jduy2: We are taking care of the baby. We are going to doctor tomorrow or day after.

@Jdiane: Yes. We can go to hospital. We stay in Bangalore , Karnataka. We have few good hospitals like Naryanana hrudayalaya and Jayadeva Hospital. We are planning to go there sometime this week.

@rosaclinic: Thanks . I wish our baby gets well soon.. We are going to see the doctor this week.
