I am 30 year old physically fit male, I bike and workout and eat well. No family history of major illnesss. I was diagnosed with Pericarditis after thinking it was a cold and 5 days of antibiotics not helping. ECG showed heart irregular beating combined with the chest pain, it was assumed I was having an episode of cardiac arrest. 4 trips to the hospital later, I ws on Indomethicin to help the chest pain, and all the other common symptoms, I was admitted for 3 days after an Echo showed 3 different sacks of fluid, that later on were abosrbed naturally durig recovery. I am taking Colchicine for 3 months after I was released and stopped taking Indomethicine 2 weeks after. I am at my 2 month mark since I got sick, I still feel a few mild pains here and there in my heart area, and at the gym I am not able to run really past 6.0 Miles/hr without feeling a little chest pain. my major issue, is hair loss, since I am recovering now, I was told by my doctor becaue my body went through this traumatic event it is common to experience excessive hairloss.....anyone else suffered this? I am talking 50 hairs after washin my hair in the towel, anyone get any treatment or does it stop?
PS for anyone that is interested to know, I kept all my blood tests and echo reports...
basically while recovering it is normal to have your liver toxicity rise (probably from Indomethicin) and my blood platlets were highr than normal for a few weeks too, everything is back to normal now blood test wise. Just the random heart area pains, I am sure my sack went through hell, as I got sick, 2 weeks later felt better, had sex ( mistake i think ) next morning to the hospital again with renewed symptoms of fever, and exteme chest pain ( thats when the effusion was discovered ), hospital for 3 days, 7 days to start feeling better, energy was at 0, heart beats at 110/minute gradually went down, breathing got better slowly, tylenol 3 helped with dry cough which I had for a while.
happy to answer any questions with my experience, but if anyone can help with the hair issue or have experience there, I would like to hear it!
cheers!
