I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2001, Idiopathic cardiomyopathy.Initially I was told not to exercise, drink caffeine or alcohol etc.
I was given a persantine (sp) stress test at that time, and no clogged arteries or veins.
I resumed exercise, but cannot run any more as I now --Heart rate jacks up too high.
But I can bike, I do lift weights and have a normal BMI.
I am left with a left ventricular branch bundle block, an enlarged stiff left ventricle.
When I was first diagnosed, I had an ejection fraction of only 30%.
Now it is up to 45%
At rest my heart rate is in the 50s.
My BP is control with Hyzar.
I am now 58.
Is there anyone out there is can tell me thei experience with cardiomyopathy?
I am told I will need a pace maker some time in my 60s. Of course being American, without health insurance-- I am now kind of stuck.
I take Fish oil, red yeast rice pills and niacin. I am also on Synthroid for hypothyroidism.
